    Shelby Museum

Anyone been there? We're going out to Vegas next week, besides the freak show along the strip this is the one thing I don't want to miss. We won't have a car while we're there so getting out that way should be interesting.

I was there in November .... a must do if you're a car nut and in Vegas!

Make sure you're there before 10:00am to make the daily tour. I would recommend renting a cheap car (most casinos have a Hertz or Avis in them) get up early and have breakfast at the shelby cafe.

It's only a 20-30 minute drive from the heart of the strip and really easy to get there.

o-ya ... the speedway and wright-patterson airbase are near SAI so there's plenty to see after the tour.

I lived in Vegas for a couple of years just before the museum was re-done. Really cool place even then. Rent a car, DON'T use public buses!

the last photo is my fav too (black gt/sc). like the clean lines and 5-spoke wheels. how 'bout that charger?! that has to go in the "what was i thinking" category. kinda like franco harris going to the seahawks. just doesn't seem right.

Worst part about the Charger...it's said to be his personal favorite. I remember a neighbor had a regular Charger way back then new, nothing to write home about but had a quick feel to it. I imagine with a bit more motor, and completely new suspension it was a fun little beater - back then. They also had a Lancer which I didn't even bother taking a pic of it, I would of rather seen an Omni or the Rampage <---

You would have to experience the Shelby Charger GLHS, not just the Charger, then you may see why he likes it so much. 175HP 2200 pounds, faster than a V8 mustang when it came out, heck it was faster than an origional GT350 mustang in every catagory including acceleration, braking and handling when it came out. Toug the car is not much to write home about in comparison to today's cars, 174HP out of a 4 cylinder was a pretty big deal in the mid 80's when most V8's were barely getting that.
