I would have to second the high price tag thing. I know it doesn't give us a price but we can only assume, at the very least, it will remain the same but in all probability, will go up.

Sorry, but for that price and for that car, Ford is behind the 8 ball.

Ok, don't get me wrong, it's an OK looking car and packs a good drive train. I mean, if thats all you want in a car and can justify paying that much money for that, then more power to you.

For me though, its just not even close to something I would consider buying if I had the money. It finally gets painted mirrors: yay, welcome to 1998 Ford. And, in my honest opinion, I think it's horrible that your standard feature list on one of your highest end cars consists of a "vehicle health report system" and an "ambient lighting system with MyColor." Seriously?

    I don't know, I just don't get it.

yea those two things were kind of dumb. I did a build and price on the 2009 and 2010 on the GT500 and in Canada the price hasn't changed. I didn't do it for the US yet.

I do agree that the whole "ambient lighting" think is something id expect in a car geared toward teenagers, not someone with 45k to spend. And IMO, the vehicle health system is just a way for Ford to spy on you to see if you're beating the sh1t out of your car so they have an excuse to void the warranty.

That being said, its still a car on my contention list for a March, 2010 purchase (assuming they dont try and do some crackhead maneuver of demaning anything over sticker).

hahahaha, good luck with that one. with the way the economy is, i cant see them producing enough to keep the demand and mark up down.

They've gone up a few dollars in three years! Mine only stickered for $43,765 in 2007 but as you know there were CRAZY ADM's on these cars in 07-08 and many people (not me!) paid 5k - 20k on top of this!

Here's the latest on the 2010's.

    GT500 Coupe MSRP: $48,175.
    GT500 Convertible MSRP: $53,175.

The good news is there are few options so the max prices should be no more than $1,500 - $2,000 on top of the base prices.

    2010 GT500 pricing announced

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Shelby GT500 Coupe has a MSRP of $46,325, while the GT500 Convertible starts at $51,225.

    The Shelby GT500

For Mustang lovers who prefer the highest performance, the 2010 Shelby GT500 offers a 5.4-liter supercharged four-valve V-8 engine that pumps out 540 horsepower and 510 ft.-lbs. of torque. Thanks in part to a cold-air intake system, lower-restriction exhaust, new engine calibration and revised gearing, the 2010 Shelby GT500 delivers more power while also increasing fuel efficiency. The GT500 improves its fuel economy by 2 mpg on the highway for a rating of 14 mpg in city driving and 22 mpg on the highway. Power is sent to the ground through a short-shift six-speed manual transmission with a limited-slip 3.55 rear axle gear ratio.

New suspension tuning and aerodynamic improvements give the 2010 Shelby GT500 sharper handling, improved body control and better overall vehicle dynamics while still maintaining a good ride and handling balance. Forged and machined 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Goodyear F1 Supercar tires, combined with the revised suspension, gives the car a high level of grip.

New standard features for the 2010 Shelby GT500 include high-end items such as Alcantara® on the heavily bolstered sport seats, steering wheel, shift boot and hand brake; leather stripes stitched into the seats that coordinate with the exterior stripe color; Q-ball shift knob and aluminum interior trim that enhances the Shelby GT500 driving environment.

Both the 2010 Mustang and Shelby GT500 arrive in dealerships this spring.

As for other 2010 Mustang models:

Available this spring, the new Mustang features a new exterior and interior design, upgraded materials and a long list of must-have technologies and standard safety equipment – such as Ford’s AdvanceTrac® Electronic Stability Control system, all-speed traction control, anti-lock brakes and front and side air bags – for an affordable starting price of $20,995 (excluding destination and delivery) for the V-6 coupe and $25,995 for the convertible. The V-8 powered GT coupe base price is $27,995; the GT convertible starts at $32,995.

Mustang comes standard with Ford’s AdvanceTrac® Electronic Stability Control system, which complements the car’s standard all-speed traction control and anti-lock braking system. A Sport Mode, available on the GT Premium and Shelby GT500, incorporates a unique calibration of the new AdvanceTrac system, letting the driver enjoy a wider range of Mustang’s performance capabilities.

A few TS members have already order them at MSRP. I suspect in this market dealers will be moving them at MSRP and as time moves on even a few thousand under. Dealerships have to keep cash flow moving right now and they can't afford to keep $40K - $48k dollar cars on floor plan.

The bad up here is that due to exchange, the MSRP up here is slightly higher for the GT500. The good news is that all incentives and offers for cash back and financing also apply to the GT500 up here. At least that's one plus.

My only fear is my addiction to mods. I would be pissed if I modded an already expensive car and had some sort of catastrophic failure. Maybe I should just find a used cobra instead

Can never go wrong with a Cobra! But those 5.4 can take a lot! I have not heard of one catastrophic engine failure on TS and a fair share of those guys are in 700rwhp-800rwhp club. Matter of fact Evolutions Performance is running a TT (stock motor) car with 1100rwhp. If you keep it conservative (600rwhp - 700rwhp) you should be fine!
