FWIW I remember an engineer from Ford saying that 18" wheels are perfect performance-wise for the s197 when asked why the GT500KR downsized from the 20" on the prototype (the same ones that are on the Super Snake) but I'll agree 20" is the way to go if looks are your only concern. I've loved my 18's since I got the car and think they'll be perfect once I get the car sitting nicer with a mild drop and some meaty rubber once the BFG's are shot.

On that note, if you're considering lowering yours, there are a lot more factors that come into play on this platform. Typically guys have been getting away with bare minimum of springs, camber bolts to get the alignment back into spec and an adjustable panhard bar to re-center the rear. Chances are your stock shocks won't take long to go afterward either and good aftermarket ones are recommended to help bring the ride back from being unbearably rough.

yeah im gonna start parking down near where you do though.. i thought a lot was pretty safe but i was wrong.. and i didnt notice until i had already left that the paint was missing. and surprisingly enough i wasnt nearly as mad as i thought i would be. it went pretty much from shock -to- damn thing i can do about it.

thanks. no rub at all. if you slam it, you'll need to factor in some additional suspension upgrades IMO - like an adjustable panhard bar and larger sway bars.

I used to have an 06 V6, I had 20" TSW Thruxton's on it. 20x8.5 in the front and 20x10 in the rear. Wheels were gunmetal in the middle and had a huge 4" polished lip in the rear and it looked amazing. Had no problems fitting 20's and no problems with the rubber either. I would definately go 20's whatever you do. They look awesome on the newer model mustangs in my opinion. I will try and dig up a pic of mine with the wheels on it.
