    Where's the bike?

These look a bit old, I got it in an email. Maybe this is why I dont ride crotch rockets...

The Honda rider was traveling at such a "very high speed", his reaction time was not sufficient enough to avoid this accident. Swedish Police estimate a speed of ~250 KM/h (155mph) before the bike hit the slow moving car side-on at an intersection. At that speed, they predicted that the rider's reaction time (once the vehicle came into view) wasn't sufficient enough for him to even apply the brakes. The car had two passengers and the bike rider was found INSIDE the car with them.. The Volkswagen actually flipped over from the force of impact and landed 10 feet from where the collision took place.

All three involved (two in car and rider) were killed instantly. This graphic demonstration was placed at the Stockholm Motorcycle Fair by the Swedish Police and Road Safety Department. The sign above the display also noted that the rider had only recently obtained his license.
At 250 KM (155 mph) the operator is traveling at 227 feet per second. With normal reaction time to SEE-DECIDE-REACT of 1.6 seconds the above operator would have traveled over 363 feet while making a decision on what actions to take. In this incident the Swedish police indicate that no actions were taken.

Wow, thats a shame. I feel for everyone involved in that. It just goes to show you that you need to be careful out there no matter what you're riding or driving.

    Be safe people.

I love bikes and would love to own one again but they are so dangerous! Not so much the bikes themselves but for many the inability to restrain from speeding and all the other idiot car/truck drivers who have no respect for bikes.

Two years ago I was really close to buying a HD, but having two people I know killed on bikes that year put a stop to that dream.

To all you bike guys be careful out there!

Thats the biggest cause for most bike accidents. When I had my bike I can't tell you how many times I almost wiped out because of some inattentive driver.

    Yup....

When i was 18 I was hit on my dad's motorcycle by the police chief of North Apollo because he wasn't paying attention... And i have had countless close encounters since.... however, i just can't get rid of my baby... no matter what happens, and i mean NO MATTER, i will always be happier on 2 wheels than on 4

Yup! part of the reason i got rid of my V-Star 1100 last year. I rode for 5 years and every year that i rode i heard of more and more bike accidents.
I really miss riding and my wife misses it more but its just not worth the risk.

That's eff'd up. Not to be a real sick bastard, but how the hell did they clean all the dead people out of the little nooks and crannies to take that heap to a car show. WTF?

Remember, when the fun factor is up, the risk factor is up, too.

i stay off of bikes like that. they really only see to have the purpose of going fast. im a bigger dude, but i think theyre really uncomfortable to ride. i take the old honda davidson out to the boonies and just cruise around out there. theres hardly any cars around and im not speeding around. just cruisin and enjoying the ride.
