I'm having problems with my belt alignment. I have tore off the out side rib facing the front of the car twice in the last 2 weeks.
I have the TFS intake which inverts the alternator. Since I already had an 8 rib pulley set up it makes it a little more difficult to align.
With the 8 rib setup I had to use .280" shims between the SC bracket and the timing cover to make the extra clearance needed for the 8 rib belt. Since the alternator is set up like the SC now and trick flow designed it to work with stock 6 rib pulleys. Wouldn't it stand to reason that I would also need to shim the alt .280" toward the front of the car also?
The closest sized shim I could find locally was .250" and is what I'm using now. Will just .030 make enough difference to ruin the belts?
Thanks.
