Heard General Motors is dropping Saturn,GMC,Pontiac,Hummer, and SAAB. Will be left with just Chevrolet,Buick, and Cadillac!

something has to be done. granted i don't agree with getting rid of say saturn since they seem to have a niche market with affordable decent cars.

now i know this will piss people off. hoping for GM to file bankruptcy and maybe make some drastic changes such as eliminating the union and start running it like a business and cut cost and find alternative ways to produce revenue.

I don't agree with dropping Pontiac. Some nice cars under that name. Hummer too niche to thrive in this economy. Saturn is another niche brand. GMC should have been gone years ago. Can buy same vehicle with Chevy name cheaper. Saab should find a new owner easy.

GM should just go thru bankruptcy and they will be better in the end. i have seen arguments in regards to say Toyota doing bad. Well with no one buying cars anyone would do bad but they still actually make a profit. Where Gm hasn't made a profit in what 10, 20 years if not longer.

More than likely Pontiac will survive as a specialty line. GMC truck may morph into a high end Chevy truck or continue on but Hummer, Saab and Saturn are definitely on the chopping block. When, not if, GM files a "government structured" bankruptcy, this will all go down!

But keep in mind there are also talks of groups/investors/dealers/current automakers who want to buy some of these lines and continue on manufacturing as independents or subdivisions of their European companies.

.... i guess we will see what happens in the next year.

If Buick would build another GNX, then i'd say keep them, but I dump them instead of pontiac right now. I don't see as many new buicks around as I used to.

I'm not much of a GM fan to begin with..Hell I'd like to see all of them stick around..The only real one I'm concerned about is Chrysler, because I work for them..heard they haven't made any types of deals yet, latest one was supposed to be with Fiat, and they said No?..Anyone know anymore about this or Chrysler period?

And as for Buicks, my dad had a SICK baby blue 72 Skylark GS Convertible with a 455 back in the day..thing was meann.

i really dont know what took them this long. buick has to stay around for senior citizens, can you image the chaos when they go to the dealership and cant find a buick to pimp, GMC should have been done with a while ago and just added denali lines to the chevy lineup, hummers beat, they should have never picked them up in the first place, saturn has too small of a market to stay with gm, saab will end up fine because of the market theyre in.

eh, im not too sure about ponitac bein dropped. doesnt seem like a good idea to me.

imo, enough is enough. theyre not gonna turn the ship around, just go through bankruptcy and get it over with.

i think thats whats gonna happen with hummer and saab for sure. if the market turns around a little, saturn might be able to survive as well.
