My car is pretty low on my list of priorities and will be for a couple years but I've been thinking about saving a little money each month for a mustang fund to blow all at once around the time I graduate.

With the above, plus a full MAC exhaust (shorty headers, catted h pipe, cat back) and a MAC cold air intake, the car make 215 rwhp/ 214 rwtq. Labor for installin gthe heads, intakes, cam, and roller rockers was a little under a grand if I remember correctly. In retrospect, I wish we just would have done it ourselves, but at the time we didn't feel comfortable enough installing the cam, plus I didn't really have the time.
The next major step ended up being the turbo kit. It's a "race" kit from TMA with an upgrade to the GT35/40r turbo, plus some other upgrades. With all the upgrades and such, the kit cost me about 5k. Supporting upgrades for fuel and what not was probably an additional 1k... maybe a little less. (Fuel pump, injectors, bigger MAF, MAFia, etc.) With this setup, minus the MAFia, I made the numbers in my sig @ 10 psi. For the record, this is on a "base" tune that I got from the guy that made the turbo. I utterly destroyed the rear end before I got a chance to actually get it tuned. It was going lean up around 5200 rpms because the SCT 2800ba MAF was pegging so I never took it above that. The car's limiter is now set at 6200 rpm so with the MAFia in place and a dyno tune, I'm looking for 350+ rwhp, still @ 10 psi. Maybe eventually I'll bump it up to 12 psi, which is what most people with the kit have theirs set at but I wanted to be really conservative to start with since, when I started the project, this was my daily (only) driver.
As for recommendations... if I were to do it all over again, I'd have just saved my pennies and gone straight to a power adder instead of all the stuff to the top end. Yes, having a good flowing engine makes more power. Yes, it is more efficient. Yes, hypothetically, it puts less strain on my engine because I don't need to run it so hard to make the same amount of power. But when it comes down to it, the big gains just aren't going to happen unless you go FI. I know with a good set of heads on a V8 you can see gains of 75+ rwhp... that just isn't going to happen with the v6. There's more to it, and maybe I'll add more later, but for now I'm tired of typing. :D

Thats pretty sick what all you've done, thx for the info. After spending a couple hours browsing through all that and doing lots of math, I figure I should probably aim for saving $5-6k. This is on top of cash I'll be spending this summer to get some dents fixed from a hydroplaning accident last year, so basically I'll have to start from scratch. Saving $3000 a year is easily in reach if I alter my spending habits.
My car has 50k miles on it now, I bought it with 33k miles 2 years ago. After totalling my first v6 , I really dont speed or beat on my car at all (rarely ever goes above 3,000 rpm) except for when I feel the occasional need to go for a "drive". Taking future milage into consideration, how high a risk is it to put forced induction on a stock 60-70k mile engine?

As long as you get a good tune and keep the boost to something reasonable (like I said, most people are going with 12 psi), I see no reason you can't keep your engine together for a good while. I bought my car with 22,000 miles on it. I pretty much always drove it hard... stock, bolt ons, engine work, turbo, all the way through. I haven't put too many miles on it since the turbo has gone on but it's sittin in the driveway right now with about 80,000+ miles on it and no problems thus far. Just make sure you're doing typical maintanence and everything in the meantime and I think it'll be fine.
