    A trim

Got it all buttoned up today except I need 2 new belts and a vacuum line for the FMU. Oh yeah, I need to retard my timing too. The guy I got it from was using a smaller pulley so the belt won't fit with the 3.33 I'm using. For some reason my regular serpentine belt doesn't fit anymore. The only thing I changed was swapping the FRPP smog delete for an ASP. Both belts are about 2" too short.

So I'm all showered and cleaned up, gonna take a little rest, then head down to Advance and pick up the belts and vacuum line.

Also, if anyone is close to Homestead and has a good timing light and feels like stopping over to help me time this thing, just PM me. I know how to do it, but for some reason neither of my two timing lights will work and I don't want to buy a new one. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I just can't get the light to light up.

I'll post some pics and maybe a first start vid when I'm done. This'll be my first blown car, so I'm anxious to see what 5-6# of boost feels like.

Went and got 2 belts. The s/c belt works, but somethings up with the serpentine system. My tensioner pulley is laying on top of my w/p pulley. Doesn't seem to matter what belt I use because there's no room for the belt to go over the w/p pulley and under the tensioner pulley. It would make contact. WTF ?

Your belt is way too long!!! You have to pick up on the tensioner to the max to put a belt on.

My original belt wouldn't fit, too short. I bought one 2" longer and it's too loose. Maybe I'll try 1" longer than the original.

2" does a big difference with the fitment!! 1" should probably get it.

frank, what i did when running an a-trim was reclocked the tensioner. Just drill a hole about 1/2-1" over from the normal hole to get the tensioner up some.

Do I need to do anything with the PCV or the oil fill vent tube with only 5-6 # of boost ?

Take that hose off from the oil fill vent tube!!!! I just saw it in your pictures. Capit at the throttle body. You can leave it open on the filler tube if you want. Is youe PCV still functioning? I/E, will it hold pressure? If not, get one that will. You will blow the dipstick out if your lucky if its bad. Worst case scenario is the rear main seal blows out.

I 've heard of people doing that. I'm gonna try one more belt and if it doesn't work, I'll reclock the tensioner..
BTW, you're talking about the hole for the little dowel correct. Not the main bolt hole?

My timing is set at 16*. I have a BTM I'd rather hook up than move my timing back to 10*. So with 5-6 # of boost, should I set the initial timing pull at 2# of boost and then 1* for every # of boost after that ? According to my math I'd end up at 9 or 10* of timing at full boost (5-6#). Does this sound right ?

you got it. take the main bolt out and fiddle with it to see where the pin needs to go. took me a bit because you dont want to be off or have too big of a hole. you need to stop down at day baum and rip one up the street when she's all done

Got all the belt issues straightened out, sort of. I drilled the tensioner bracket to give me some room between it and the w/p pulley. My volt gauge is only showing 12 volts and my power steering feels a bit different.
Other than that, I cycled the key 2 or 3 times to build some fuel pressure, cranked it and it fired right up. Looked for any leaks, let it warm up a bit and took it for a quick spin around the block. Stayed out of boost because my timing is still at 16*. Gonna hook up the BTM tomorrow. Then we'll see what she has in her. Still starts, idles and drives perfectly, which is always a bonus after digging that deep into a car.

Set base timing at 14*. Set the boost retard on 3 and go from there. 3 is safe. Do a couple full throttle runs. If its not pinging, take it down to 2. Keep listening for the rattling sound. You do not want to hear that!!!!! Thats when you get cylinders full of coolant or in my case, a windshield covered in the green slimy stuff.

Okay, I put my stock alternator pulley back on. Gonna go get an 84.5" belt and hope for the best. If that doesn't work I guess I'll need to buy an ASP AC eliminator bracket/ pulley, move the PS back down and get a belt for a 5.0 with all accessories.

This is turning into a major pain in the arse.
I did get my btm and boost gauge hooked up last night, so the only obstacle to boosted fun is the belt issue.

Where should I set The BTM to start pulling timing ? 1#...2# ?

Thought I'd post a pic of the car. Most of you have seen it, but I really like this pic and have never posted it up.
