    GM convert... maybe?

Hey all, i just signed up because i started looking at terminators for when its time to buy my next ride. im going to school at PITT right now and driving a chevy z71 pickup. its a great truck and ill keep it forever, it actually made me a GM fan. its got 170k and ticking on the ODO and runs better every day...

i was looking at GTOs for when it comes time for a car, but the ammount of power you can make (for relatively little money) in a cobra is just incredible. and being that im 23 years old and have virtually no responsibilities, i figured if im ever going to have a car that does nothing but go fast as hell and look mean, now is the time to do it. i can get a GTO when im older or something.

edit: i know im new and this is probably annoying. but does anyone feel like giving me a ride in a terminator (or stang of that body style) one this weather clears up?

Heck I'd love to go for a ride in Lou's Cobra. Welcome, and if you're ever in my neck of the woods ( or me in yours ) I'll give you a ride in my Mach 1.

i wont hold it against you... theres not much rivalry anymore, our football team really just sucks anymore. Bball is doing ok, but i dont watch it anyway.

i love the GTO because it is reasonably fast, does OK with mods, and has a GREAT interior that i fit in perfectly. its not as fast as a terminator, doesnt do as well with mods as a terminator but i still ahve to see if i can even fit in a stang of those years .

are there "year codes" for them . like the old fox bodies had a name/generation, what are the 00-04 called?

ill take a ride in ANYTHING really. cobra or not, i really just have to see if i fit. i may go try and get in some at some dealerships in the area, but we'll see how that goes. dealers around here dont strike me as too friendly to 18-27 year olds.

    Welcome man!!

on a quick side note - indeed, the cobras are really awesome how you can easily mod them to be quick cars, but i think you'd be pleasantly surprised on how easily/cheap you can make a N/A LSx motor just as quick

good luck on ur quest - either way, you won't be dissapointed

no doubt the LS can make good power. but the GTO is a 37xx lb car... and can only fit 285s out back. so no matter how powerfull i made it, it would still have many shortcomings...

a vette may be a different story.

the weight issue of fitting isnt my concern really , its the 6'8 height that is my cause of concern.

does anyone here own a new mustang and one of the 00-04? i think the shape of the bottom of the dash gives a little more space in the older ones. but my knees were pushing on the dash of the new ones really bad.

do the terminators have "tilt" seats ? like where i could angle my seat so my knees are higher or lower ? (know what i mean?) it looks like they may be non power seats tho... im still a total newb to most things mustang.

I know the power seat in my Mach ( and 99 GT) allowed for you to tilt the seat. I have an 04 and my wife has an 06 , but I honestly never really noticed which one had more leg room.

it wasnt that the length of the legroom was the problem. it was just the design of the dash came down a little too low on the 06 for my legs. ill have to mess with the tilt and stuff and find a good fit. even on the gto which i fit in great took a little time to find the perfect position.
