You'll have a great time. Just do what the instructors say and they'll move you up to the faster groups quickly. Group 1 is infuriating! What car are you taking?
I just hope the weather works out...always a gamble.
I'm taking my black 99 cobra. I'm sure it's 10x more capable than me so I should have a blast. :)

A coworker is bringing his kid's 98 T/A...It'll be his first time driving on the track. He's ridden around it before in another coworker's Boxter S and had a blast. His kid got him the pass for Christmas and offered up his car to drive..thought that was a pretty good gift.

Well ended up having a great day. It was my first time at BeaveRun and second HPDE ever.
I'm going to get myself a nice set of tires and give it a go again in the fall...probably with the NORPCA at MidOhio.
My car is setup pretty well for the Beave.....4.10's is a nice gear there. I would hit 120-125 on the front straight...never bothered to look on the back.
Here's a few pics...the black cobra is yours truly.
First pic is an Elise.
Second pic is the slowbra.
Third is my coworkers kid's WS6. (stock and did pretty well)
Fourth is a SICK AMG benz...I couldn't believe how great that thing sounded. 6.3 liter N/A v8 with an aftermarket tune makes 450 to the ground....and it handled well too.
A new M5.
THe GT3 didn't run with us...he was scared of the FORD power. :) (that thing was INSANE..i saw it beating up on a purpose built, race tired c4...and the GT3 was on street rubber!)
NExt is yours truly on the front straight.
Next is going through T2.
And lastly is a nice pic of me going through T3 and T4 and putting distance on that pesky 911.
I'm happy to say the ol' slowbra handled it's own out there....handily beating every car in my run group....the next closest was either the 911 or the AMG.....they both had me in the first session but I was feeling good for session two and starting to learn the track and my car better.
Can't wait to do it again.

Definately run the contour....it's an absolute blast. I've watched a few events up there but there's nothing like keeping the throttle pinned coming down the hill and through 8 and then 9 before slamming on the brakes for 10.
One thing though...make sure you're good at turning right...LOL. I noticed after the second session that my front left tire was 2 psi hotter than the right......or roughly 20 degrees F.

John/Something Clever,
What kind of tires are you thinking about? I have spent many years doing track events and would recommend something like a Falken RT 615 for starters. Look at brake ugrades and LOTS of seat time before doing chassis mods. There is no replacement for seat time. I do 12-15 track weekends per year. I will gladly try to steer you in a direction to help you.
Good Luck

Brian,
I currently have a mismatche set of Dunlop el-cheapo fronts and Michelin Pilot Sports (285/35/18) in the back. So long as the rear's hold up to some more miles, I was considering ordering a set of matching pilot sport fronts. However, they seem to wear out very quickly.
Those RT 615's look pretty serious....definately a consideration...and if you say those are the ones to get, then that's what i'd get. THanks for posting.
-John
Edit: I was also surprised at the considerable amount of understeer once the tires were heated up and I was running a little faster through the turns. The only time I could get any rotation out of the car was in T6 and T10. I'm thinking that's mostly due to the Dunflops...left front tire pressure at end of session 1 was 36psi and 38psi at the end of the second run session.

I like the reviews on the Nitto NT05 tires, they might be next for my Contour.
I've never been to a road coarse but I've heard this is a nice track and its so close, please let me know next time you guys head up there.

John, It was not your tires causing the understeer/push in your car. That is a problem ALL Mustangs have with stock suspension. On my 03 Cobra that used to be my track car, U1arunit and I put a Maximum Motorsports K-Member and coilovers on the car and it still pushed at speed. However, my current track car is night and day different. The Grigg's SLA front and watts link rear end is the Mustang Ford SHOULD have built. I can hardly wait to get my new motor completed and installed in this car. I think that 5L Grand Am Konie Cammer is gonna wake this thing up on track. In the mean time, I am considering installing the FR 500 heads and Roush/Yates magnesium intake.
Good Luck

Make sure your brake pads are in good shape before you show up to BR. And bring an extra set, track is HARD on brakes.
