flaming river rack install. no worky so far.

The FR linkage is about one inch short of lining up. There definately doesnt look like I can make an inch up in the linkage. Does the factory shaft that comes through the firewall slide at all? I tried pulling on it without any luck.

The shaft that actually passes through the firewall will not slide. Are you sure you have the correct shaft? They are different for manual and power racks.

I thought the shaft that came with the FR kit was long on all of them?? When I ddi mine the shaft needed to be cut by some amount. Troy gave me a dimension, we mocked mine up, and he was right.... but I can't remeber what it was.

Anyway, did you cut the shaft? Only other thing i can think of is as Ed suggests, it's the wrong shaft.

My '90 air-bag shaft did slide allow the shaft to connect to the flaming river setup we put in. The tough part is getting the proper angle to get any force on the shaft.

That damn shaft would not slide.

I pulled the steering column out, pulled the shaft that runs thru the firewall out of the column, and its all good.

    Thanks guys.
