Car Audio Help...

Ok i pretty much know most of the basics to installing amps/subs, but i have never installed car audio speakers/amps.

I have a t10001bd (Rockford Fosgate) Amp, running 2x 12" Rockford Fosgate P3s right now, i also have an old Kenwood kac-606 Amp that i would like to run 2 car audio speakers (Sony Xplode Speakers(xs-1311)) that i have laying around... My first question is, is this amp even capable of doing this?

Next, how do i do it?

I have the RCAs, power, ground, and remote wires Running from my t1000, to my kenwood, and the kenwood light turns on, so thats fine and its getting power, I have a speaker output to hook things up on one side of the kenwood, and a speaker input on the other side of the amp, I have hooked one speaker up to the "Speaker Output" terminals, and the speaker kicks on and starts thumping, but it acts as if it were a sub than an audio speaker, it just gives out some bass not audio..

Any ideas? lol, if im doing something WAY wrong dont be afraid to let me know, because i really have no idea how to do this

I actually just did a whole stereo system in my Ranger on Friday. I am running 4 Infinity Kappa's powered by a Rockford Fosgate Punch P400.4 amp, all controlled by a Kenwood HD head unit.

You have to make sure you're running the right kind of amp (2 or 4 channel) and you have the right amount of RMS watts to each speaker. Also, you need to look at how many RCA outputs you have on the head unit.

This a good reason why you are getting only bass out of your components. If you don't have 3 sets of RCA outs on your head unit (one for the fronts, one for rears and one for subs) then more then likely you're only sending the bass and lowers to the amp.

For example: my Kenwood has three outs: front, rear and sub. I am not running a sub in my truck, just a good set of components. So, I had to run two sets of RCA's (one set front and one set rear) to my amp which is a 4 channel amp. I then ran the 4 set of speaker wires from the amp to each speaker. I am utilizing a channel for each speaker and my head unit and amp will support that.

If I wanted to run a sub I would have to run a third set of RCA's to my amp or another amp since I'm using all the channels on my current Rockford Fosgate.

I would also recommend a separate power wire and ground for a second amp or at least a capacitor to ensure you're getting full power to each amp.

actually if your running the rca for the kenwood from the rockford amp then thats why you only hear bass not full range. you need to run another rca from the head unit to the kenwood amp and make sure to plug the rca into the front rca output on the headunit

This is correct but the OP made it sound as if they only have one set of RCA's on their head unit. Thats why I said you have to make sure you're head unit will support it.

ohhh see thats what i did wrong then, i knew something i did didnt seam right, im not really sure if i have 2 or 3 RCA outputs on the back of the head unit, i guess i will have to look tomorrow, Its just a cheap ass head unit that i had laying around.. im hoping it has 3 lol

Im pretty sure my head unit has 3 RCA jacks, so i think ill be set!!
