My girls car has some ac issues and its not blowing cold anymore...i was hoping someone does hvac work and had a vac pump to evacuate the system and fill it. i really dont want to get raped at some garage, ive never had to pay anyone to work on one of my cars so i would almost rather buy all the tools than pay some overpriced shop to do it halfassed.

You should be able to "rent" a vacuum pump at Autozone. If not, you can buy an adapter at Harbor Freight for around $15 that uses your air compressor to pull a vacuum on the system. It's not as effective as the pump, but it works. You can also get a decent set of gauges at Harbor Freight. I'm about to attempt my first major A/C repair, so I'm definitely not an expert. If you end up opening up the system, take the time to replace all the o-rings and the accumulator/drier.
