    too many miles?

Well after thinking alot about i decided getting a house is more important than getting a new truck and the fact i have no vehicle payments i like too. lol.. So i need to make my truck more fun to drive and get a lil more power out of it. It seems like the eaton swap is my best bet, but my truck has 111k miles on it. Is this too many miles to do this swap now? I was going to do the s/c swap with a exhaust and other lil bolt ons. So what you guys think too many miles?

I personally wouldn't do it Scotty. That is alot of miles. Unless you plan on rebuilding or putting a new motor in it. I would only put one on a motor with 60,000 or less miles.

    Here is my 2 cents.

I wouldnt do it either. You are working with a high milage engine that was not originaly designed to take boost. I just think the cost to HP would not be worth it. If I was going for a project like this I would look for an engine out of a lightning and drop it in.

Cool I didnt know that. I would have guessed that the lightnings engine had a stronger bottom end and different pistons to lower the compression.

I think Terry from Street Leethol did that in his shortbed FX4 and it runs real good but it has low mileage on it.

just my .02 - i would be very hesitant to sc a motor with that many miles, but im far from an expert. the question i would ask myself is... does my dd truck really need that extra power? i know back when i had my notch, i was thinkin' about putting on a sc on it with right at 105k miles and everyone I spoke with talked me out of it. i called a few people and they all said not to unless it was under 50k miles. i will say i saw a stang at prp a few years back run 11.60's-11.90's with a stock motor with over 160k miles on it. i believe he told me he put on the sc at like 155k miles, so at that time he got atleast 5k miles out of it with no trouble... i guess i just dont have the balls to do it or the $$$ to rebuild it incase it blew

i was talking to a guy who put his lightning blower swap on at 190k and he is still going strong at 205k and it surprised me on how many guys have 100k plus motors and just getting to the swap.. As to the dd needing this, its not so much needing it but make the truck more appealing to me i guess you can say as its way too boring to drive now and its def does not have the power that i would like when i go to haul things. I have only driven it on rainy says to the buell being my DD with close to 1k miles already and not even had it a month
