    Question Exhaust Input

Hey guys, im looking to get a new exhaust on my 99 mustang gt. I have 2 questions that i would like your opinions on. First, i would like to know what exhaust you guys feel is the most aggressive without changing the headers/midpipes. Secondly just changing the catback, should i get it done at a shop for $60-$90 or do it myself, what is involved with changing a catback?

    Thanks,
    Shane

catbacks are not hard to change. if your looking for loud maybe SLP loudmouth? or borla stingers??

Loudmouth by SLP is pretty sick IMO..just a little pricey..go with a catless x pipe after, and some headers..stupid loud..

ok the slp is what ive been really interested in as well, just didnt want to taint ideas by putting it in my original post, glad it came up tho...more importantly, how is the installation? how accurate do you have to be when cutting the old ones, how do the new ones go on... etc? would it be worth the $60 to take it to a shop?

IMO, its worth 60$ to not deal with it and watch a professional work on your ride!! OH, you dont cut your old ones, you have to just unbolt them..

If you're doing a "cat-back," you shouldnt have to do any cutting at all.... Furthermore, the $60+ would be a total waste... you should be able to change a cat-back in a heartbeat... don't need anything more than handtools.... hardest part is probably getting the tips lined up the way you want them (especially if you're super anal about how perfect they must be)

he will at least have to cut the stock tail pipes at the end of the mufflers.

You can do it yourself if you have some basic mechanical skills but if you don't have good jackstands, jack and basic tools just have it done professionally.
Use some spray lubricant if your factory bolts are rusty and let it sit for a few minutes.
Also, those SLPs and Borla Stingers are stupid loud if you ever take off your cats, if you never plan on doing that they're fine.

No offense I'd rather ford than Government Motors any day...I do have gm's but no more from here on:(

Thanks for everybodyes help, if my cat starts tomorrow when I finish hooking up the new engine then I'm gonna go with the slp, after I buy it I'm gonna check to see how much is involved but probably just gonna go to rodeheavens as he gave me the best quote.
