My Dad's 1966 Merc. Comet Cyclone Gt

I don't think I've put these up before so I thought I'd share a few pics. of one of my Dad's old cars. As the title says, it's a 1966 Merc. Comet Cyclone Gt. It has a 390 hipo, 335hp from the factory. It was nowhere near this condition when he bought it. He had bought one new in 66 but had to trade it in in 76 on an f-250 Hi-Boy. Ever since he's wanted another one. He had this one painted like the first one, this one is supposed to be red, everything else is correct for the car except wheels, which he has the original wheel covers from his first one in the garage, he just hasn't gotten around to putting them on. Hope you like! I know I do!!

Thanks, you know it's a shame though, alot of people don't realize what the comet is. They just look at it as though it's just another old car, they don't appreciate the rarity of it. And boy are some of the parts hard to find! And when you do the prices will kill ya!! Especially NOS.

Way cool cars! I like the Comets and Fairlanes also. The link is to my best friend's parents' '65 Caliente Convertible. Unfortunately, the car still looks like it does in the pics, with the exception of the engine being disassmbled and cleaned up, ready for reassembly.

That would be a sweet car if they ever get working on it. Looks like the body is in great shape from the pics. It's nice they know the history on it as well. Maybe you can twist your friends arm enough to get him to start on it?

I keep making him the offer, whenever he's ready, I'll be there to lend a hand. 2 kids under 4 makes it hard for him though.
