wow that is awesome... The third gen camaro has been growing on me alot...
I had a 91Z28 with the L98 350 TPI engine. It was the first year for the return of the Z28 since the early 80's I think.
Had it for a few years. Unfortunately it never grew on me like the 5.0's, but it was a great car. Tons of torque and handled real well.
The car in the vid has a 305 as you couldn't get the manual trans with a 350.
Anyone have vid of this car cleaned up or know what happened to it ?

I had an '85 305 Iroc-z with some type of special factory handling setup, car was on rails in the twisties. Run fairly well too. A buddy has an 25th anni Z28 with about 1600 miles on it. Everything still has the plastic on it as well. This one is prolly so screwed up with the tank, fuel lines, injectors, brake lines etc., would be a nightmare to get it road worthy.
If its an '85 LIKE THE ONE I OWNED, its tuned port injected. It had a throttle body.

It says in that thread that it ran and idled after initial startup. And as far as I know when it comes to IROC's, you can get a 350 with a 5spd but it had no t-tops because the torque would twist the car and pop the t-top's off.

the z28 was made while they had the iroc also, they never made a 5.7 5spd because the tranny's would never hold!
I have a 90 Iroc 305 5 speed car. The reason they never made the 350 5 speed is because the Iroc racing rules stated that the engine had to be under 350 and that GM had to produce and sell some many cars before they could race. My car had the rare G92 car and had the same cam as the 350 cars. It was a fast car for its time. I pulled that out and was working on putting a 382 LS6 with a 6 speed in it.
90 was a half year run for the Iroc and was the only Iroc badged camaro with the 91-92 style interior.
If the car they found was a 1LE package car it would be worth a mint.

They could have been ordered any way you wanted. My neighbor, back in 89, wanted one real bad but his mom wouldnt but it for him cause it was too fast. So he went to JC's and ordered it with V6 wheels, no badging and nome of the fancy stuff. Then bought the wheels and decals after his mom saw it. Mind you he was almost 40 years old. They are loaded. HAHAH He then put the wheels on one month and the decals the next. They were all sitting around looking at it and ordered pizza. The pizza guy came in and said " man, thats a sweet iroc" He got busted. HAHAHAHHAHA

They Did Make Iroc's With Carbs,most Were In 85 & 87,trust Me I Know!
I know these cars pretty well. There was no 5.7 TPI/T5 option because the torque rating on the T5 wasn't adequate. The TPI 5.7 was rated at 345 lbs. of torque.
I've been around a lot of these cars and have never seen a T5 5.7 TPI car.
A lot of guys thought they had a 5.7 because in TPI form it looked exactly like the 305. It used the same intake runners/base manifold, etc.
If anyone has a documented 5.7 TPI/T5 car, I'd be mighty interested in seeing it.
Non WC GM T5's were rated at 265 ft. lb's. Gm went to the WC T5 in 1988 which had a 300 ft. lb. rating.
The torque rating for the TPI 305 was 285 ft.lb./300 ft.lb's depending on year.
The highest rated factory T5 came in the 93 Cobra with a 310 ft. lb. rating. You could get a T5Z rated at 330 Ft. Lb's. from Ford Racing, but they were never available as a factory option in any car.
So, you can see why this was never an option when you look at the Tq. ratings of the T5 and the Tq. rating of the 5.7 TPI engine.
