This is in Rochester NY (not too far away). Man shot and killed a teenager that was vandalizing cars and stealing items from the cars as well. That man is now on trial for 1st degree murder... that is life in prison or death penalty. Think before you act.

IMO that is bull shit. Good for the guy for protecting himself and his property. I be the two shit heads that ran will think twice next time before trying this again now that their buddy is dead over it.

Other than moral conscience or consequence of actions what is to stop anyone from doing anything they want. Obviously these vandals lack moral conscience for committing these senseless acts in the first place, so that leaves consequence of actions to keep them in line. What would make such a person second guess doing this vandalism... a cop with a several minute response time, or armed citizen who have been known to shoot your ass for messing with their property. That's the problem with today's society, we lack both moral conscience and consequence of actions. There is so many lawyers and people quick to twist the victim into the perp today that most people are afraid to stand up for their own rights and protection. I can only hope and pray that I am never confronted with such a situation because I love my life and my family and I wouldn't ever want to be away from them... but I will protect what is mine, family and property included, with whatever means "I" deam necessary.

I hear ya. I have calmed down a lot. Just want to get my car fixed now and go buy a beater so they can do whatever want to it. hopefully it will look as good as it did before if not better. Thanks guys

Glad to hear you've calmed down. I know it hasn't been easy, but it is still a good thing that you're not quite as angry.

See how much the insurance company wants if you buy the car back. When my SHO was totaled they said it was worth around $3400, and it cost me $200 to buy it back from them. That's right - $200 for the whole car - totally rust-free - 90k miles - 1995 SHO 5-speed. So I netted $3200 and got to keep the car, which I sold to a friend for the same $200 ( he plans to use it in an enduro racing series ). You might be shocked at how little they want for the car.

In your case you're even better off, as your car has only cosmetic damage - nothing structural ( my SHO had rear frame damage from when a senile old man rear-ended me at over 35mph ). So you can get their money, keep your car, and save up the cash to make it just how you want it. You can even take a bit longer before fixing your car so you can save a little cash for a beater / daily driver.

At least look into it. Your car will have a reconstructed title when it is all said and done, but you'll have all the proof you need to show a future buyer that the damage was purely cosmetic and that the R-title is not due to a collision.

On a side note...I will probably be selling my 90 LX 5.0 5 speed next spring and it will be in your price range. ( I want to buy an '05+ GT ) But I doubt you want to wait that long. It is bright red with grey GT interior, sunroof, has low miles, 5-lug 17" bullitt rims with 245's in front and 315's in the rear, mild mods, and it is cleaner than 99% of the foxes out there ( all original body panels and ZERO rust ) with beautiful original paint. Oh - and it sounds REALLY nice with a prochamber and flowmasters... Shoot me a PM with your email address if you want a few pics.

You should make out on the deal if you buy the car back after the total loss. You sould have some cash left over but it will be a salvage title. Sorry to see your car like that, It seems like people are so damn pathetic anymore.
