for all engineers or math gurus

Any idea what this amount is? I'm guessing zero. The first term is 2/1000'ths of a cent, the second is equal to -1, and the third approches zero???

ur right on the first term and the second term is -1... the third term is equal to 1...
    its a simple geometric series... .the sum from n = 0 to infinity of 1/(2^n) is [1 + 1/2 + 1/4 + 1/8 + ...]
    use the geometric formula a/(1-r)... in this case a = 1, r = 1/2.... thus 1/(1-1/2) = 2...
In this case, you are summing from 1 to infinity, so you need to take off the term when n = 0... 1/(2^0) = 1... Therefore 2-1 = 1
    .002 + (-1) + 1 = .002

LOL!! Love it! My first thought was 0, after you do the rounding. I don't think many banks recognize anything after .00

If you pay Columbia Gas by check and you write the check out to "cumblowme" they'll still cash it.

actually, 2/1000th of a dollar or 2 tenths of a cent.

and i didnt give you credit... you were close on the third term... the LIMIT(not the sum) of the third term as n approaches infinity is 0.
