    Internal Wastegate

I have been chasing a boost control issue. Not really control, but more like response as it never goes over the set point, but it comes on, falls off, then comes back with RPM. When we had the car on the dyno I had Frank shoot some video of the gate in operation........

Looks like I have some insight :D If I had planned better I would have had a boost gauge over there so it could be in the shot. Don't mind the nut running up and down the shaft, it doesent hurt anything, you need to pop the rod off to actually adjust the length ;)

    Bob,

I'm a little surprised at how little the arm moves to release the boost. You can data log boost & load right?

I was also expecting more travel. I have been wanting to adjust the rod for more preload and base boost but was affraid it wouldnt control. What you see there is a bout 1/3rd to at most 1/2 the available travel.

I did not log boost for this, only by eye off the gauge. I only have 4 channels of logging avaialble and am using the MAP input for TPS to tune the MAF transfer. The prupose of this was to get clean logs of the MAF voltages so i could finish cleaning that up, thne I will switch back to my MAP sensor on that channel.

With the Turbo EEC 4 it isnt possible to log load as it is a calculation done in the EEC. I can calculate it based on other parameters.

I had a problem like this on my Stealth TT and it was driving me up the wall. Here is what I did...I took a PVC pipe cap that fit the air filter location and drilled a hole in it and fit a connector for the air compressor to connect to. Then I took the PCV cap and clamped it in where the filter went and charged the whole system up to the PSI I had the boost controller set for. As soon as I put pressure on the pipes I heard a big Hhhhhhhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiisssssssssssss and found the cause of my month long search. The pipe looked like it was sealed and didnt leak at low boost but as soon as I got to a higher level, air would leaking out from around a rubber coupler. As the boost went up the leak let more and more air past and my boost controler was going crazy trying to give me the level I had it set for.

I hope your issue is that easy to fix and if I would have had this idea sooner it would have saved me a bunch of time in the troubleshooting department.

This is not a leak issue for sure. I have pressure tested everying several times.

This is a result of the ball/spring boost controller at pretty high pressures. It blocks the signal until it hits set point the first time, but you can see the gate open, and never moves again until I let off. It should be closing to try to raise the pressure but never moves. I have outgrown ball/spring boost valves ;)

Now if I could find a sponsor for a NRL AMS 500 ;)
