    Smog system removal

Are there any write ups on smog system removal that you guys know of? What all can I remove?

Also, what are the rules regarding emissions? If the car has less than 5000 mile/year it's exempt, right?

the best thing to do is to just run a short belt around the smog pump and put your stock belt on for inspections..

My buddy does the inspections, but not emissions... Plus I'm putting LT's in soon and I want to clean up the engine bay.

I understand that the tube bolted to the back of the cylinder heads gets removed, and those holes plugged. I also realize that the pump itself and the junk next to the passenger side header gets taken out. I'm going to LT's in the process so my catted H pipe will no longer have the egr tube. I'm going to reroute the belt to run without the smog pump.

What do I do with regards to any harnesses or wire connections as well as vacuum lines. I don't want any vacuum leaks and I don't wany codes as a result.

Right but that still doesn't help with regards to harnesses/vacuum lines. I'm just starting to get into engine mods and still learning, any other area of the car I'm fine with. I have no prob ripping off the pollution control crap, but I don't want to rip shit out and end up with driveability problems.

everything that was said above and the harness plug need to be pushed down. ill try and get a pic up tomorrow of mine. i just put a plate straight across it to hold it down. as long as its pushed in, no codes are throw.

i keep my under 5k a year so that its exempt. they do not run emissions, so im pretty sure the smog pump is not needed. i never had a problem with mine getting inspected. i also dont have cats.

Remeber Vehicle Is Exempt If Registered In Same Name For Atleast A Year Been Driven 5000 Miles Or Less. Obd 1 Cars Must Pass A Visual Inspection. If Even In Non Im Counties. Obd 2 Cars Gets Obd2 Test And No Visual Inspection Unless In Non Im County Then Gets Visual. In Theory If Put There By The Factory It Must Be Retained.
