    transmission problem...

on my 04 f150. ran fine the night before. next morning i went to leave and as soon as i pulled out i heard a clunking noise, so i stop, put it in reversre and it wouldnt move. tranny wasnt slipping, felt like something was bound up. i give it more gas and it and it leaped backwards hard then stopped like it was in park. i put it in neutral and it would move foward but not backwards. at this point i know something is binding up, but what??? i even lifted the back of the truck up and put it in 1st gear and the wheels move about a foot and then they stopped like it was in park. tried it in 2nd and drive and they spun like normal. reverse did the same thing that 1st did. any ideas??

i unbolted the drive shaft and put the truck in neutral and it only spins one way. forgot to mention that when this first happened "trans fault" showed up on the heads up display and the o/d light started flashing
