Mine has most of that taken out and my exhaust is different than yours.. The 984s dont have the actuator in the exhaust that you have and honestly if your looking at doing an exhaust dont cheap out like i did and get a drummer or a voodoo pipe..

you ever look at special ops? looks the same as what drummer does except he charges 250 instead of 400?

I honestly just want a little noise. I do not need more power and I DO NOT want to mess with a tune for this thing. All that ecm spy cable laptop BS looks insanely intimidating to me.

Ye ai looked into special ops some people like it and some people dont thats why i said the drummer cause it seems like every buell guy loves the drummer..

You will be fine with just an exhaust, just dont put a new filter like a k&n in it or anything and you will be fine.. You either do one or the other

like special ops or drummer that is a modified stock exhaust.

if I go loud-ass Jardine or D&D, they tell me that flows too much air for stock tune, too.

Jardine is not as loud as you think, my buddy has it on his xb12r up in NY and it sounds ok, but he loves it, but he also has it tuned and filter ( i will probably have his dad tune mine as well). The D&D is just stupid loud and you lose ALOT of bottom end where the 12s are known for ,and the 9s are known for have alot of upper RPM power, so the bike wont have as much "pop" at the flip of the throttle. The one guy i talked to alot on here about buells had one and he switched it out for a drummer.. And you might want to re check your prices on these pipes. Last time i checked the drummer was pretty pricey(depending on which model you want) And with the JArdine and D&D you have to fab up some brackets for them to mount to cause the stock ones will not work anymore.. Another good exhaust that you can usually find is a Buell race exhaust on ebay(dont make them anymore), Travis on here has one on his xb12scg(bad ass bike!!!) and it sounds awesome all through the rpms, not as loud as mine at idle but mine gets raspy at high rpms where his stays a low/loud rumble like a harley.

Putting just a pipe on these bikes puts them to the edge of the stock tune already and same if you just do a filter.. These bikes are VERY and i mean VERY smart. They actually learn how you ride the bike and change the TPS to suit the way you ride. When you get your bikes first tune-up done at Highland they will tell you the same thing and ask them to re set it back to 0. When you get back on it, it will be like a totally new beast.. There also is a "tune/chip" you can buy from ASB that you can get that will basically tune your bike(its around 100 bucks) but if you would ever change anything you would need to get another tune from them. Thats why people usually tune them theirselves cause that would add up.

Mods that i have done are:
Stock modded pipe, CRG mirrror, low seat(million times better), reset TPS. fender eliminator, LED turnsignals

If i would do it again i would do
Drummer, K&N, Tune, CRG mirror, low seat, integrated turn signals, and different tires..

If your intention was wanting it to sound like a Harley, you succeeded. For a sportbike, sounds way too much like a cruiser. What's it redline? I vote video #1.

redline is really low, i think 6500? maybe i havent been down in the garage in a while to look at it haha.. Yea there is a very small difference btw a true harley motor and these since the 984 is basically a 883 with more power and the 1203 is like the 1200 sportster

thanks scott... i love the buell race kit, but i did have some intial trouble with one on my first lightning. the factory tune wasnt right with it and kept burning up the plugs (4 sets in under 1000 miles). when i got my current lightning, i had them set up a new tune and to this point (4800 miles) i haven't had any trouble. out of all the kits i have heard on buells, imo this kit has the best all-around sound. it might be a biased opinion since thats what is on mine, but it sounds good all through the rpm's, but it isn't too loud either. the other thing about the race kit is that you get not only the muffler, but a hi-po air filter, and a programmable ecm. supposedly the best person around to tune buells is the shop in hagerstown md. ive heard that they can get an additional 10-12 horse out of a standard 1200 with a race kit. im happy with the way mine performs and never wanted to make the trip for the boost in power... i have debated long and hard about getting a 1125cr, but i just love that air cooled twin and don't want to give up my bike for the extra performance.
