    Nlr Ams 500

Does anyone have any experience or know anyone that has used the NLR AMS 500 ?

    http://nlrsystems.com/cindex.htm

I think I'm ordering one soon but would like to talk to someone that uses it first ;)

Got delivered to TeamZ today Bob, the 2-step stuff left Summit as well.....9s with a stick and DRs? we'll see :)
Give me a ring, I talked to Sebastian the owner to decide on the 500 over the 1000, It sounds like all I'll need. It basically controls 2 stages of boost and the second high stage is ramp adjustable. I downloaded the instructions and read them twice before I called. I'll have the low boost set by the gate basically, but it will be tied to the 2-step, so launching on a pre-set low boost on the 2-step (probably 4-7psi depending) and then when the 1st stage is deactivated by the 2-step release it will ramp in the 2nd stage for a total of 16psi.
Give me a ring if you want to discuss, later guys.

Thanks J, I have also been pouring over the manual and reading other fourums. The NRL guys are pretty agressive that any time their stuff is mentioned they are on there. I am amazed we don't have a new member already :D

I think I made up my mind to order it tonight. I will just wire the two stages to seperate toggle switches and set two levels, one for daily driving / 93 pump gas, the other for the track with Torco in the tank. The ramp stage wont do me much good, I basically want it all in fast :D

What i am curious is if anyone using it has tried it on an internal gate and what kind of spring they are running. I ASSume you have an external gate, did they recomend a spring for you or just the "setting over spring pressure"? The spring seems to me critical to response than a lot of people give it credit for. Seem to have much better control with a lighter spring, not sure how it responds with their stuff.

I hope to have it here, and up and going the week after next. This is the last chance for the internal gate. It does flow enough to control, actually the drop off i'm seeing says it will flow more. I'm hoping that pressure on the spring side with a light spring will take care of the issue.

Only 40 psi. Set it for any more than that and it defaults to 40. If you want more, you need the AMS 1000 with the external MAP sensor. I should be okay :D

Decided to mount the controller on inside on the center console. The stupid little graphic display is useless anyway, and there is a clock in my radio. I was also able to make space for an additional gauge. I had that voltmeter laying around, not sure if it stays or if I'm going to put a water temp gauge there.

The switches are to select what boost stage is on.

    Plate mock up

How it sits in a center console

I have it torn back appart, deburred, and shot it with wrinkle paint. now to wait for that to dry and start wiring ;)

Lookin good Bob, great idea. I think a water temp guage would be good, using just the stocker now?
I plan on having mine mounted in the glove box.
Should have some pics from next weekend at Norwalk. Supposedly mine's all wired, I'll just need to run the boost lines and mount it. Stage 2 is activated from my Painless 4-panel ashtray switch and stage 1 is activated and release with the 2-step.
I hope it all works as planned---I hate troubleshooting at the track.
    You coming out with Mark?

Finshed the assembly this afternoon. All that is left loose is the three wires to the solenoids, and hot and ground. Everything else is wired in the panel. Off to the car next ;)

Sort of. at the track I know when my temp is right based on the WB02. For everything else the stocker does for now.

I think I'm going to keep the voltmeter, probably just get a better one. I had issues in the past where it would have been nice to have in front of me.

To be determined. Several have been trying to nudge me in to going and racing. I need to get this together and hopefully hit TnT Wednesday and go from there.

FYI - If your is anything like mine, take 20' of vacuum, line with you. It's a long run into the car, then to the vacuum tree twice.
