Mark, there's no way my car will be done in time, even if it was I know for certain that I wouldn't be able to get the safety stuff done that I need to in order to run there. :( I'm not sure about my dad. We've always loved racing there at the SSOTN event, and I know we're finally getting close to getting dad's car where it needs to be in order to run the times its capable of. I'll need to call him and see.

Mark, my dad and I will be there. I sent payment in for him this weekend. Now we need to get moving on getting his car ready! It needs to lose some weight off the nose.

I may very well take you up on that Joe. My dad's car weighs 3350lbs with him as scaled by Rhode's when they setup his rear suspension, its very nose heavy. (53%front/47%rear if memory serves me right) This baffles me as he has eliminated the AC, sway bar, fog lights and brackets, and he runs a PA racing tubular K member, A arms, and coil overs. I bought him a march alt. adjustment bracket so that he can by-pass the power steering pump at the track next time as he couldn't do it before with the way the AC eliminator pulley had the tensioner mounted. I'm trying to also talk him into a flaming river manual rack too before Cecil. He also has a small dyna-batt type battery that he has yet to install. He also needs new rear tires, but he has no idea what to get. I'm trying to talk him into a set of full slicks, but he doesn't want them for whatever reason. He runs 26X10.5X15 ET streets now, but I think a 11.5 would still fit fine on his car. I'm not certain that a larger diameter tire would help him due to gear ratio reduction.

If I had my way with his car it'd ditch the shorties and get a set of long tubes, I'd ditch the borla mufflers as they neck down to almost 2.25" at the inlet of the muffler, I'd bypass the power steering or get a manual rack, I'd switch to a 75mm TB at least, I'd get an electric water pump, and I'd move the battery to the trunk. We still need to get this car to hook and it just never really has. It's got a Rhode's anti-roll bar, strange adjustable shocks and struts, metco lowers, Rhodes adjustable uppers, and coil-overs up front. After we get the front stuff done, I'm going to re-check the pinion angle to see where its at.

Man, that thing weighs 3350 lbs. I believe you, but you'd think it was less than that with some of the items you ditched along the way. I remember you saying that they set up the suspension with a full tank of gas (roughly 6 lbs. per gallon X 15 gal.) so that is an extra 90 lbs. in the rear. I recently weighed my fox body with a full tank and it checked in at 2880 lbs. with me in it (205 lbs.) We both have aluminum heads. The 470 lb. differential is staggering! Perhaps the scales were not calibrated at Rhodes???

I agree with you on the longtube addition replacing the shorties and why not just ditch the mufflers since it is trailered and save weight too. The manual rack would be a welcome addition. The electric WP will free up some hidden ponies. The battery in the hatch/trunk is paramount when trying to achieve a more desirable weight bias. Although, charging woes may appear. They did for me. An upgraded Alt. (130 amp) and thicker power cable will alleviate the issue.

The 26" tire can be a PIA to hook on a stick car. Added ballast is *usually* needed to aid in high rpm (read:6,000 rpm+) launches. What width rim does Mike have on the rear of the GT? I would suggest a 26x10x15 M/T ET Drag slick for your application *if* you decide to go the 26" tire route. I'm a fan of the taller tire with more gear as you know, probably from following Project Stocker over the years and seeing how Evan had Stocker hooking even before he went to an adjustable clutch.

The 91 is making damn near the same output of mine. With a renewed look at Mike's chassis, ALOT of gains *can* be had. I know the decision does not lie in your hands. Redefining the goal(s) may need to be considered to get the most out of a already stout combo.

    I vote for:

    1. 1 3/4 longtubes
    2. 90mm throttle body
    3. sct 90mm maf 2400 or 2800
    4. Meziere or CSR electric water pump
    5. Full 3" exhaust w/ dumps
    6. Ditch front & rear bumper's
    7. Flaming river manual rack
    8. N/A Powerepipe

Well, we booked a hotel room tonight. (Rob, we are staying at the same place you are)

Is anyone else going??? This is one of the best events I've attended. Its a super fast track, you normally get a good bit of runs in, and there are some amazingly fast cars there. I highly recommend going if you are even remotely concidering it!!!

BTW- dad's manual rack is in along with the march alternator bracket thus saving some weight there too!

Got time to meet fellow members?

I have never been to one of these events. I would like to hang out and met everyone. Is this an all business event or will there be time to met and greet?

Unfortunately, I will not have my car ready by April 14th. I might have 'lighten' to much...

Stop on out. Take a look at skinnykidracecars when you *really* want to put that thing on the atkins. But unlike the atkins this weight loss is permanent.
