    Cage and Subs

I'm considering swapping out my MM full length subframes for some through the floor subframes tied to a roll cage. Does anyone know any good shops to do this? Or is it overkill?

Would a MM 6 point bolt in cage plus the full length subs that are welded on be enough to take some heavy autocross abuse? I need something that is capable of mounting the MM rear panhard bar to.

if it is a track only car that goes racing every weekend, then no, it is not overkill, but if it is going to see the track here and there then yes i would say it may be a little over kill, the mm subs are great connectors, it is gonna be alot of work to remove those and make new ones that are gonna tie into your mm suspension, if it were mine I would maybe do a 8 point that ties into the mm frame connectors..

You would not have to remove the existing subframes to do through the floor subs if they are done right.

Thats how mine are done, the welded on FLSFCs help for jack points and to attach garden hose fuel lines :)

Well, what's a reputable shop to have an 8 point cage installed? The subs run basically underneath the seats, not at the edge of the car, so where would a cage be tied in? Just welded to body? I'm not too familiar with cages in the stang unibody. A chevelle perimeter frame on the other hand....

What we did on my last cobra was a kicker bar that went down and through the floor, tying into the top of the subframe connector...worked great

Mike, do you do any cage work there? I'm interested in tying an 8 point into the MM frames. It'll be a good bit down the road, though, as I would want to make sure I had all other mods ready to go, such as any interior mods. I don't want to gut this car.... yet...

No...not set up for it and really don't want to be either. We stay plenty busy with the motor work, power adders, bolt ons, tuning etc...you have a pm...

One of the benefits of the MM full-lengths is that MM says they can be used as a cage mount. Probably best to leave them and tie them into the cage like Mike mentioned.

I had my car at a well known chassis shop and had to pull it due to 5 months of no progress. The guy that I took it to is doing an awesome job... I highly recomend him. If you need a phone number, let me know.
