    94-95 Tuning Help

Hey guys. I was wondering if it would help out my car to have it custom tuned its a 94 GT. This is a list of what I can going to upgrade or already installed.

    -All ready Installed

    2 1/2 - MAC Long Tube Headers
    2 1/2 - MAC Xpipe no Cats
    2 1/2 - Flowmaster Cat back system
94 Cobra upper and Lower intake
    65mm Throttle Body.
    BBK Cold Air Intake

    -Still deciding on

    75mm MAF from Summit
    24LB injectors Ford Motorcraft

The above is already installed. The 75mm MAF and 24lb injectors I am still deciding on and not sure if I should install them. Since I am not going to put on heads or a cam right now would it help it get my car tuned? I know that tunning a 94/95 is not that simple because you have to buy either Tweecer or Quarter Horse or have a chip burned in. I am still quit new to the tunning and would like to know the best way. Any help or ideas would be great

    Marc

As was mentioned a tune isn't needed yet. Typically a tune is needed after a cam swap, or when larger injectors are used. Keep your 19's for the time being, they are more than sufficient as well as your MAF.

With only a step up to 24's you "should" be OK, but a calibrated MAF alters the load values in the EEC so it could still cause you some issues. The best way to tune these cars for bigger injectors is to change the MAF transfer function instead of tricking the output voltage of the MAF as "calibrated" meters do to allow for larger injectors.

So if I dont add the injectors and MAF I should be OK without a tune. I was just thinking since I got my upper intake off it would be easier to replace the injectors now. But if you think it will not make that much different I will just keep the stock MAF and 19lb injectors until I put heads on.

I agree. I would hold off on the injectors and MAF until you start changing heads and cam. No use in buying things twice.

Thanks guys for your input. Ill hold off buying them for now and save up for some new heads. Any certain brands I should look for or watch out for.

It depends on what you want now, and what may be instore for the future. Without knowing that it is hard to suggest a brand/type of head for you.

My personal choice are AFR's as I have had nothing but success with them.

You need to tell your Brother to put them on ASAP I want to see the horsepower gain he is going to have. Is the price worth the gain?

Hey I'll put em on as soon as he buys the damn things. And from what I can tell, yes, they are worth the $ you spend on them.

right out of the box. they were going to fix them for free but i had them ported and the dude that ported them ported into the valve seats, so they couldn't.
what they did was sell me a set they had on an engine dyno for 3 hours for $750. not to bad.
but think about this, now there is a out of the box set of heads on my car that i basically spent $2300 on. $1300 new, $300 to port them, $750 for a new set. they would have ported those for me for another $400, but i didn't have the cash.
i will say this, they will make right if anything is wrong with there stuff. it just rubbed me the wrong way that they were f'd up brand new, ya know?

    sorry for the highjack.
