    Front coil overs

I am looking to put a tubular k-member and coilovers on the front of my 91 mustang. Was wondering if anyone has done this, and how wide of a wheel/tire you can run in the front. I think the coilover spring is going to hurt tire clearanace. I have a 17x9 with a 245-45-17 on the front now with stock suspension. Thanks

You have to run a shorter spring with wider tires. Its been a while but you need to run either a 10" or 12" coilover spring.

I have custom made 17X9 bogarts up front with a PA Racing tubular K member, strange coil-overs and adjustable struts, and 175 14" Qa1 springs. My wheels rub, but I have since bolted on a set of 17X8" wheels and they clear. I plan to send my wheels back to bogart to have them cut down to 17X8, luckily when i had them built they offset is different than stock so that when I have these cut to a 17X8, I will have less back spacing than the stock 17X8's therefore I'll have even more clearance.

Thanks for the tip Lou, I never heard nor thought of that. Maybe I'll switch springs instead of having the wheels cut down as it'll save me a ton of money.

No problem, the only disadvantage I could possibly see with the shorter springs is less stored energy for launch purposes.

What about ride quality with shorter springs?

Most street kits have a 12" spring and aren't too bad depending on the rate you choose. Im pretty sure that its a 10" spring that is used with wide tires now that I think about it. Those im no help with info on ride quality, its been a few years since I sold a 10" kit.

You still sell the springs? I might end up using a 17x8 wheel as well, which might work better. Thanks for all the help.
