I thought some of you might like to hear my tale of stupidity, and maybe avoid it yourself in the future.......
I've been working on getting a 3.55 geared 8.8 ready to go under my car. This was a TC donor, and had been removed junkyard style by cutting all the control arms, drive shaft, etc, plus the brakes where rusted on the solid. Nothing an impact, some heat, and some patience, and three nights now couldnt handle.
So tonight I finished cutting the quad shock and brake support brackets off, got a broken cover bolt out, and got ready to paint it.
I've had a quart of Por 15 around for a while, picked it up and shook it and it still seemed to be liquid. Got everything set-up, including rubber gloves, towels, thinner, etc (didnt glove up yet).
Shook the can up real good (more on this later), pryed the lid off (it was pretty well glued on there), only to see a "dome" of hardened Por 15 right under the lid (The dome part will be important later). Interesting, I shake the can some more, and it's liquid under there for sure...........
So I take my screw driver and tap on the "dome", It's harder than a rock.........
So I smack it with the end of the screw driver and BOOM the dome explodes, blowing Por 15 all over my face, hands, hair (the little I have), and legs.
I scream oh sh!t, wifey just happens to be nearby doing laundry and walks in..... Sees my predicament, and just about falls over laughing. God I love her, goes for the laugh first rather than my aide ... I run to the utility sink with my mineral spirits while wifey is still aughing her ass off.... I'm trying to explain the permamance of Por 15 to her when she reads the can lid and joins in the panic.
I should have read this earlier ....

This likely had something to do with my situation...
Note: Leftover paint should not be put back
in can as this will shorten shelf life and might
cause pressure to build up in can, causing
the lid to pop off.. well, the lid was glued on, so appearently it made a dome and hardened under there, no popping lids here
And this probably didnt help....
Never shake up a can of POR-15. It
should always be stirred.
Hindsight is alway clear I shook that sucker good.
So while I'm dumping paint thinner on my face, wifey goes and grabs my Cra-Z soap. Someone gave me a few bars of that last year, and it's amazing. In this case, it worked exceptional, and we got all of the Por 15 off my face, hair, and arms, most of it off my legs, and it tastes better and easier on the eyes than the paint thinner.
I'm going to order a case of the stuff and keep it everywhere

One last point, the Walmart brand of eye drops seem to work as well as Visen. I hope you all can learn something from my misfortune, or at least get a laugh.
