    Exclamation White Face Gauge problem..Help!!

I bought a kit off of ebay,(http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1999-...#ht_1752wt_944) that gives you white faced gauge layovers..the cluster in my car when i bought it has a gauge layover that has flames on it, gay i know thats why im changing it..anyways, im trying to install these, but if i do over top of my current layover, the flames will bleed through the new gauges(parts of the numbers/letters are blueish)..I want it to be white all behind..IF i paint the flames say with model paint or something white, will this give me dim spots throughout the cluster when the lights are on? What should I do, possibly cut out the old parts (jus the gauges themselves) and leave the rest there(check engine light, seat belt, ect ect)? I'm so pissed off, what i thought would be totally simple turns out to be extremely hard and very precise..

another idea, would be to take a piece of computer paper, make a template of the gauge and glue it down first?..possibly still bleed through?

anyone got some advice? And no, my stock gauges arent behind the layover on it now, stupid pricks took it off..thanks.

the way im looking at it now, it looks as if im screwed

HAHA !! I got it..I'm gong to go to wal mart and get some really really fine sand paper, and sand all the shit off..and then put them over it..I think it'll work, if not, i'm outta ideas..I've tried cutting out the old parts, its too thick and i dont want to damage the actual cluster..im outta ideas..so hell with it, if all else fails, looks like im goin' to ford to get a new cluster. does the computer keep the mile record, or does it store in the cluster?

OR TO YOU GUYS OUT THERE WHOS HAD THEIR STOCK CLUSTER OUT..does the gauge face backing peel off of the clear plastic its stuck to? I need to buy a whole damned cluster now just for that piece, i doubt ford sells the lay over without the whole cluster..someone help me before it forces me to drink myself to death.

Ok I think you can get the plastic, If you do take the black plastic off you loose the color of the bulbs cause they are clear and th strip across the bottom with all the dummy lights is attached. The computer holds the miles from what I understand BUT the cluster holds the security for you KEYS!!! So your car will not start. Also if you take the needles off you are not going to be happy. I had to drive with my cluster apart and set the MPH to my GPS to get it correct again, and it looks like I lucked out with the RPM gauge, but my temp gauge sticks and my battery gauge is reading high. But my tank was empty so I lucked out there.

This might be you best bet... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2001-...Q5fAccessories
