Just get the correct size injectors and you'll be much better off.
I have 42lb'ers, with a 331, TW heads ,stage 2 cam and 8lbs of boost. Can I eliminate the FMU?

I would say you will be perfectly safe in eliminating it with that setup. The 42's are generally good to 500 RWHP. Certain people have still beed OK with them upwards to 550 RWHP. General rule of thumb would be to step up to 60's once you eclipse the 500 RWHP mark.
