I just double checked the rulebook, it is 13.99 and quicker. If you're going to race, it's a worthwhile investment. If you come up Sunday and have a big melon (I do) I can lend you my old helmet.
Most of all, just have fun!
remember this yellow, yellow, go.... depending how much you have off of the line ... the time it takes the third light to drop to green is so quick that by hitting it on the second yellow or as it goes out you will keep your reaction time quicker...
You can safely drive it without the sway bar, you will notice the handling difference just don't try no 90mph corners or you will really notice it lol.

Before you worry about reaction time get your 60' down first.
How do you do that with your automatic??
Seriously though .... Go with the goal of having some fun. If you have fun you might go back, and if you go back, your times will get better and you will have more fun :D your first time there is sensory overload. You have everything going on, will have 30 guys telling you what you did wrong, and wont remeber what you really did do when you get back in to the lanes. After a few passes it will feel more comfortable, then worry about trying to go fast

I hope I am not to late to help. I just fold this post and I think I can help you.
Here is what you do...Find the vid of my first trip to the track and dont do anything I did.
Just get out and have fun! Talk to some of the regulars, I am sure they will help you out. Also try to get a spot where you can stand and watch the tree so you get an idea of whats going on before you stage. I had that issue on my first run and honestly didnt think about it until it was to late. lol
