I've got two questions regarding the electrical workings of the early 90s Mustangs.
1.) The air bag sensors in the front of the car have wiring harnesses that run to connectors located around the strut towers. After this connection, the wires run into the car's main harness. If I remove the sensors and their seperate harness, then remove the wires/connector that run into the main wiring harness. Will my airbag blow on me when I reconnect the battery? The battery has been disconnected for about a month now.
2.) I've installed a 3g alternator from PA performance and also their 4 gage power wire w/ in line fuses. The stock power wire comes off of the solenoid, splits into two wires (one yellow and one black/orange). The yellow wire runs to the D shaped connector on the alternator that we are required to keep when converting to a 3G alternator. The black/ orange wire runs through the harness, splits into two, and they both run to the connector that gets cut-off during the conversion. PA instructions call for putting ring terminals on the black/orange wire and then bolting them, along with the 4 gage, onto the alternator post.
Will leaving this undersized, black/orange wire result in a potential fire hazard? Or, since the 4 gage cable is there, is there not enough resistance for a potential hazard? Is there a situation where the black/orange wire can overload despite the 4 gage? Also, If the yellow wire runs directly from solenoid to D shaped connector, without having the black/orange wire spliced in like on stock, will this create havoc in my charging system?
