Thread: Women drivers SUCK!

    Thumbs down Women drivers SUCK!

Alright, it's about 515 and I'm heading down lebanon church road in WEst mifflin right by the county air port heading towards 885. Im in the fast lane, doing the speed limit because of traffic. This lady barrels over into the fast lane, cuts me off, and then SLAMMED her brakes on. By the time I saw the brake lights and ass end of the XL7 raise up, I immediately slammed my brakes on, and ripped the ebrake to its fullest. of course, I was super close from not hitting her, but I did. After having my car painted just a few months ago, I FREAKED OUT. the hood was a bit popped up, I believe the latch is a bit bent. Other than that, there are just scratches all throughout the front of the dumper and black scuffs. I didnt know it was a lady at first, or I wouldnt have been so shrude at first.. But I screamed out the window " wtf?!!! pull that piece of shit over!!!" And then she stuck her head out and said Right down here. I thought, this persons lucky to be a woman, because I would have beat the living hell out of someone. I just washed it about an hour previous to this too, wtf?..many Women drivers suck..some senseless broad trying to get home from work in a hurry...and I notice they all tend to hit the brakes later than they should..am i the only one who sees this or?!

you are not the only one who has seen this problem with women! my wife drove my car for 3 mos and it needed new brakes after that. i told her what the hell i had this car for three years(it was a 5 spd) and hadnt needed brakes since i got it .. i let her drive it and plop there goes time for new brakes... she says oh well you havent had them in 3 yrs and so how is it my fault? i cant wait till she needs them on her sequoia and i can say see told ya so!! that is what you get for slamming the brakes last minute! reminds me of that skit from bill engvall when he was teaching his daughter to drive and the neighbor thought he had a boombox in the car.... because his foot was hitting the floor so hard with his imaginary brake....

Sorry to hear. Although you didn't even need to write an explanation with that title and I would have agreed.

I don't recall if she was or not, may have been, may not have been. Just some dumbass switching lanes without paying any attention to the full lane of traffic ahead of her

Grabbing the ebrake is NOT going to stop the car faster. Locking up the tires will INCREASE the distance it takes to stop.

Rolling friction is considerably less than sliding friction. Sliding friction generally less than static friction. Think of it this way. You are trying to move a big box across the floor but you can't get it started moving. You can't overcome the static friction by yourself so someone gives you a hand pushing the box and you get the box into sliding friction across the floor which requires less force to keep the box moving. Now you have a dolly and can't get started. Someone gives you a hand, helps get you started and you say, "Thanks I can handle this by myself." So, that's why you never want to lock the brakes up: it puts you into sliding friction mode - you are now on rubberized black ice. Besides, the wheels have to be rolling, not spinning or locked up for you to have any control at all; barely rolling but rolling nevertheless. If you go into a skid ease up just enough to keep rolling. I have been driving for 51 yrs and this technique has saved me more than once. It takes discipline and brass ones to do this because the natural tendency is to put your foot through the firewall. You will end up with some perspiration on the brass ones but they won't be dented or crushed and if they are, not nearly as badly as they could have been. Would love to learn how to do a 180 turn. Does anyone know how? Could you teach me?

x2.... just slam the brakes... then the ABS will do its job......

on a side note, i know the feeling a bit - when i had my '94 Trans Am, i rear-ended a woman in a SUV b/c she was being stupid ... she even admitted it... we were merging onto the Parkway East at edgewood/swissvale... she stopped and i stopped behind her - looked back and about 200 yards away is a street-sweeper truck coming up the road... 2 tractor trailers could have pulled out and not held up traffic... she lets off her brakes and starts going, so i let off the brakes and look back to take one more look... press the pedal down, look forward and i see her slam on her brakes... WHY? There was no damage to her car, but her tow-hitch went right through my front bumper... pissed me off sooo bad... that car was in great shape, even with 187K miles
