    Vortech setups?

So I have this crazy thought of a Vortech V-1 S trim and was wondering who has used this setup. Complete non intercooled kit. Could piece together an air to air setup as I know intercooled would be better.

Only thinking of about 8psi.....for now

Not sure if the cams I am using would work well. Hitecth Stg2 NA .550/.500, 234/230@.050 111LSA. The stg2's for a centri blower are same spec except being 112LSA. Not sure if lobe profiles are the same. Course the stockers could go back in till I could get proper ones.

Sanity may pull me back but then again. This is somethig I have wanted to do for few years now.

that lsa of 111 is way better than the stock cam lsa of 108(i think), but those would not be bad cams at all..

So far found the V1 S trim setup complete for $2899 new and my finger is slowly pulling on the trigger

Looking at the IceVex air to air coolers
    http://www.icevex.com/products_35vap.html or http://www.icevex.com/products_351090x.html

    or

Air to Water setup from Frozen Boost http://www.frozenboost.com/ which I would be more inclined to try. Plus the setups they have look easier on the wallet.

If I did it again I would have bought the tuner kit and saved hundreds over the regular kit. Just something to think about. You're probably not going to run an fmu and going to get a custom dyno tune, so why waste the money on the tune from vortech or the fmu..

I can get the tuner kit at $2549.00 but then need injectors and fuel pump. Pretty sure MAF and I would get it tuned myself anyways.

Complete kit has the 38lb injectors and new fuel pump.

    $350.

Talked to the company and they said they are 38lb Lucas injectors and Vortechs 255lph "small" in tank pump for 98-04 Mustang/Cobras. Injectors seperate are $339, Fuel Pump $194, Total $533 if added to Tuner kit

Those should work fine for what I want. 38lb injectors should support up to 506hp at 100% duty cycle

The complete Vortech kits are fine but they are designed for a bone stock car. The hardware that comes with the complete kits becomes a limiting factor real quick, even on a stock motored car. If you think you would ever turn the wick up on a built motor, you would be better off getting the tuner kit. With a modified car you need a bigger MAF, you could do a cobra/lightning 90mm meter and always add a mafia if you need more range at some point. I would just get the sct ba2600 and be done with it. The injectors that come with the kit are fine but once again, wouldn't be enough if you turned up the boost, I would get 60's. The fuel pump that comes with the 99-04 kits is a focus pump, it is pretty much maxed right out of the box. On a modified 2v that thing will be maxed but you could always add a small amp bap, oem cobra fuel system would be a much better choice.

Mike that was something I was thinking about at work today. So I ended up ordering a V-2 SQ S-Trim tuner kit. Was same price as the V-1 S-Trim tuner kit so went with something slighty newer in design. Can always send it out down the road for the newer SC or SCi upgrade when needed. I wasn't liking the new V-3 self contained unit's. Rather have oil moving and not sitting cooking.

I have looked at the SCT meters and also the Abaco DBX meters. http://www.abacoperformance.com/products.htm

Fuel pump I would like to use my stock GT tank. Do Cobra pumps work with a GT tank? I'm open to input that will be reliable. Still looking at injectors and brands. Probably will upgrade fuel rails. I know I need to dump the Steeda balancer.

Thanks guys for adding your thoughts to this and to anyone else that like point me in a good reliable setup.

There's always great deals on low miles 42#'s on svtp, and the corral almost daily.

Edit: Or as mike suggests, there are always 60's as well...but a little more money it seems.

I hear you on the self contained stuff, I have never been a fan my self with all the durability issues that procharger has had over the years. What I will say is that I have installed several self contained Vortech units and have yet to have a problem. I have no knowledge or experience with the abaco meters, not saying they are bad but I like to stick with what works! I believe you can run a cobra fuel system in a gt tank but I believe they have issues with running dry, just get the cobra tank and be done with it. You can by mine if you want, may be for sale sooner then later! Stick with known injectors with good data, stay away from off the wall models just to save a few bucks.

    Good luck either way!

Gah feel like I been waiting forever. Just waiting on Vortech to ship this out today or monday. Was held up waiting for batch of parts to come back from machining. Hoping that since they stopped with S-trims that this comes with the newer SI impeller instead.

Won't be relaxed untill I see that big brown truck drop this off at work.

I have been running a vortech set up almost 6 years. Very relible, 5 years with a V1 s-trim then a T-trim. Go with the tuner kit and add your own support mods.

Who did you buy your kit from? Vortech is very quick with turn around time. I ordered an srt8 6.1 challenger system last Friday, those kits are built to order and ups tracking says it will be here tomorrow....

Superchargersonline.com, Be first and last time I buy from them. Hell I'd been happy to have gone to Summit and paid an extra $141.01 at this point. I looked at my order history and it shows "Filled", use to say awaiting shipment and "Paid in Full" yet my money is still in account. Did say authorized for payment.

They have till well, tommorrow to supply tracking info and prove it has been shipped or this order is cancelled. I almost called Vortech today just to see if they anything in their system to ship to me. Which I may still do.

Try to save a few dollars and get F'd anyways.
