    84 GT350 Vert

So I have had this car lil over 2 years now. Been in storage since day one. Last summer I had yanked the 302 out to rebuild but found it to be no good for my plans. Have a 11:1 351 shortblock together just waiting to finish off. So this past weekend I decided to start tearing into this car. I have put it off for too long.

Started trying to clean off all that yellowish undercoating from engine bay. Wire wheel and cordless drill so far has worked good. Found two spots on driver side frame rail will need cut out and the metal replaced. The Sway bar bracket looks as if someone nearly ripped it out then tried to weld it back and frame behind it is cracked and split. Then there is one spot on rail at bottom of strut tower that has rust coming thru. I guess the rail is filled with nuts from rodents. They left stuff everywhere. These two issues are minor.

Got computer harness cut out and was trying to yank computer out but found I had no room at all. Tried getting heating/AC system out but I'm guessing the dash needs pulled to do that. So stuck there I started gutting interior to get closer look at floors. I know they needed some work but dang driver side was a death trap waiting to happen. Floor was so gone along rocker at seat that rear floor was sagging and all cracked up at rear seat mounts. Floor was sagged atleast an inch. So I'm going to get the thru floor subframe in then replace floor from sub frames to rockers on driver side and replace only the two bad corners on passenger side.

Right side seat belt I'll take a wild guess and say it doesn't work. So a fix was to tie it into a knot

I see you made 2 cents on the deal.

I like seeing projects progress. Thanks for posting the pics. And you're crazy for being in the garage Sunday.

Ya just a little work to do. I knew driver side floor was bad. Other side was looking good till I peeled up the sound deadener. Which by the way came off super easy. Can't wait to get car up on stands so I can cut off rest of exhaust, pull trans and gas tank out and see what more fun stuff I can find underneath that needs some love.

Chuck I was in garage saterday and sunday. It sucked bad with zero air flow.

Is the floor setup different in a vert compared to a notch or hatch car? I ask since I'm not familier with fox cars. I saw in pics of Lou's car that the floors run to the rocker but on mine the floor goes under the rocker inside the car maybe 3/4" the entire length on both sides.

Seems this would make new floor install a pain.

Verts have inner rockers for more support.
