There was talk a while ago of doing a chat box for all the little BS banter stuff.

We could do that or just keep the off topic section and only people who want to read it could go there.

If we do not want an off topic section and instead only want car talk sections that can be done as well.

Once Lou chimes in with the wanted changes we can move forward with them if he wants to do it that way. If not I do not see any improvements in the future as far as site quality. It seems that all things have a cycle.

Again, as for myself being on a lot of forums I just do not read the posts or threads that are not interesting to me. There are way too many members on here to keep every post clean with the amount of mods/admin we have on here. The short sighted solution is banning and stricter site rule enforcement.

Things that bother me the most are when people post in a technical or serious discussion with nothing to contribute, feel the need to fight their buddys battles, posting anything to boost their thread count or because they are bored, posting in the classifieds for no reason, and worst of all, the clicks and the drama they bring.

I tend to think alot of the times drama will come up and people that werent even there will start posting there opions and gettin involved and it just stirs the pot even more. Its like a way o keep it going for no reason.

For example in the latrobe thread. The main two people really involved in that thread have been talking through PM instead of on the board and worked everything out great. but the thread just keeps going and causing more drama with new people.

It just seems to be the american way anymore, like people wanna see fighting, wanna chase ambulances to see accidents and all that stuff.

Well if the bS thread doesn't bother you then one would ASSume it's the latrobe thread.

If you or a mod sees the thread going in a direction you don't like, just lock it right on the spot. Would probably save lots of additional drama and other "members" signing on just to post in it.

One idea that i have, that i think would stop the arguing, is make a daily post limit in the threads that aren't yours. Let's say the limit is 5, if you're interested in an Item for sale, it does not take 5 posts to get the information about the item and if you need more back and forth discussion, PM the other member. Is this even possible?

my personal input would be to start from scratch... clean slate but the thing that would suck is all the usefull information that people have posted up and esp the cool event pics that we have all attended ... i think if people paid for this site it would be a different story. perhaps people would put there money where there mouth is. there are jokes and stories that we share... but no body needs to come home from work and listen or read for that matter all the nonsense.

steel city stangs is a great part of my hobby .... and would love to continue with maken good friends like bo, brian and others.

Ever think of haven people who you trust to police this site and help control this. esp when it comes to nudity and speach! you know im 25 and work w many guys at a bodyshop... i feel like im a sailor sometimes. but i know that there are kids under 18 on here and people need to watch what they say and post. this should be something you can share with grandma!

Im not refering to one single thread, its way more wide spread than that. If all we did was talk tech here this board would be aweful boring.

I think its a maturity thing. Young guys gotta flex their mouths even when nothing intelligent or worthwhile is coming out of it.

My biggest pet peeve is the guys who openly bash Mustangs on a Mustang site, then write it off to joking.
If you don't like Ford or Stangs ....GTFO.

That being said, I've owned just about all makes of cars, and all makes of cars should be allowed on this site as long as everyone respects each other.

I'm going to put some honest thought and deliberation to this. I've missed a lot of the recent stuff I feel like, but for all I know everything under the sun could always come back pointing at me and I wouldn't have had the slightest clue. If it is, or if there is something I can do to help turn things around, please PM me (open invitation)

My initial thought is that as a local site, and a decent amount of local interaction, we've all developed our own cliques. Pittsburgh is a place with a lot of geographic boarders, and I believe that different mindsets and mentalities in regard to online interactions may stem from that. The way that two people interact online may very well be entirely different than how they'd act in person (and no, not because of the "you won't say that to my face" aspect, but because you can write out a simple sentence or two, but if you had 100 different people read it - there would be 50 different interpretations. And I think that might be one of the demons that this site is facing right now.

With that said, I've met a lot of really great guys through this forum, and if it takes putting up with the occasional turd slinger to keep that going, then I'm fine with that. Nobody is perfect, and we're not going to see eye to eye on every single topic under the sun, but variety is the spice of life... however this is a forum specifically for mustangs (and fords), so I think that bringing too much outside influence in has probably been a negative effect on the site (I know that I'm guilty of that on numerous occasions).

I love the site, but I have very little patients for it anymore. This is why I don't post or contribute as much as I used to. This is why I closed down my private messaging. I have tried to adopt the "if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all" attitude...but I struggle with this every time I view the board. I know my view or perception is different because I am a vendor, many of you are my customers and there is a lot of politics that come with that in general. From past and present vendors, to the newest member, there is a lot of unnecessary bullshit that goes on here and continues off the board as well. Everybody is guilty of doing or saying something they shouldn't at times, but some members just take things too damn far. I have had to put up with a lot of bullshit since I opened the shop and became a vendor on here, I am getting real tired of biting my tongue and sitting on my hands.

Everyone needs to chill out, have fun and be glad that we have this board to share our knowledge and experiences...as well as make new friends.

Glad you made this thread Lou!
Thanks again for the site & dont think I dont appreciate it very much!

My problem which has drastically dropped my post count is all the b.s. from the wanna-be's. A few of them have already been banned but a few still remain. These guys must just be bored or stupid as everything they post is 100% meaningless and non-contributing.

Don't feel bad about the bannings either, fire off a warning shot, then shoot away........................

Exactly!!!!!!!!! If the powers are available, use them. You were given the responsibility. Explaining should not be needed. Shoot a warning through PM, then BAM!!!!!!!!!! I can think of 4 right now. And one is not a kid either.

This would seclude the BS from everyone who really doesn't want any part of it. I've seen this on other boards and it seems to work well.

Ok well, its obvious that the guilty folks are trying to avoid this thread.... so i'll be the first to step up and apologize....

I try to bring a lot of experience to the site, as i have made a lot of mistakes and learned the hard way from them.... I post in the technical threads only if i have some sort of insight on the problem that the user is having... and my biggest pet-peeve is people posting in the classifieds, so i absolutely refuse to post "good luck!" messages in every single For Sale thread...

also, i try to bring a little bit of unbias opinion ... but unfortunately, because of what I have listed in my sig, people always take things the wrong way, and get their britches in a bunch.... If I didn't have a liking/respect for Mustangs, i wouldn't be here.... For some time this spring/summer, I had quit posting for the most part, and just read over all of the threads... However, with the recent attraction of certain new members, I found it very difficult to deal with their attitudes and wasn't able to keep my trap shut.... So I will take my part of this situation on the shoulders and make the proper changes.... I have lots more to say, but gotta head out the door to work... I'll check in later

there's always going to be some disagreement on some scale with almost every topic... however, the problem is people that can't carry on an "argument" without making it personal.... i hope that those of us that can debate things without getting all jacked off aren't TOO much of the problem (although, i'm sure we're part of why this thread was made, or i wouldn't have posted)... an example is MBH and I - we've disagreed with lots of things over the last year or so, but always kept our debates clean ...
