My Stang Is In The Garage :(

Sometime around the beginning of the month, I was driving home about 9:30 in the evening, and came up on a rock on the road. I thought I could clear it, but evidently the rock was bigger than I assumed, because it mangled my passenger side catalytic converter, and pushed the exhaust up against the floor board, denting it.

With the exhaust pushed up, it was resting against my gas line, so the Ford garage here didnt feel I was safe driving it and kept it. I work at home, no problem. They knew the price was going to be quite high for the labor to fix the floor board, etc., so I turned it in as an insurance claim. $1400 later, they ordered me a new Pypes x-pipe exhaust system from Summit.

BUT...My car is STILL in the garage!! The insurance appraiser told me they could order it from anywhere, didnt have to be Summit, but the garage wanted to order from Summit. As of yesterday, they still did not have the exhaust yet. When I spoke with them yesterday morning, they said after lunch, if they had not received email confirmation that it was shipped, they were going to cancel the order and get it from somewhere else. Keep in mind, I found another one on another site a week ago, but they wanted to go with Summit.

I'm a little upset with that garage for screwing around so long waiting on the part.. but the good news, I guess, is that my car will get a whole new exhaust system.

I've been told the x-pipe will be better for the engine and will also sound better.

I also needed 2 new front tires, new brake pads and rotors for inspection, so that's being done also.

I cant wait to get my car back!!! I miss it after all this time.

And for anyone thinking about, or who will be attending our DelGrosso's show on Saturday, Aug 22nd, I wont have my car there but I will still be there

I asked the garage to 'loan' me a Mustang (or even a truck, I'd be happy with that) LOL

That's weird... Summit has always been top notch for me with shipping of items... i've gotten far quicker than i expected to!

I can't believe they had a problem with Summit. They are always easy to deal with when I order, return, etc...

I'd say get the garage to cancel it now... looking at your link, the system is backordered a while, and not shipping until 9/9:

I'll call the garage and ask them if they did order it from somewhere else and when they expect it to arrive.

It was originally on backorder till 08/30, but when they ordered it, they said possibly 08/17 or 08/18. Now that it is 09/09, Im sure they will have canceled the order. They BETTER have, anyway. That's too damn long to wait on a part.

I am finding out the more I do with my car in this hobby you get what you pay for. 9 times out 10 if it looks to good to be true (price), it probably is...

With the Pypes stuff, I found out first hand that their products were not what I was looking for.

Although my buddy just had the Pypes shorty headers and catted x-pipe installed on his '01 and so far so good.

hmmm ok.

I just called the garage and they arent sure what's going on with the exhaust. He said he'd check into it and call me back.

I'm gonna call the appraiser. I'm starting to get mad.

You will enjoy pypes. I have a catless x pipe on my from pypes. With flowmaster super 44 mufflers and I love it.

Sorry to hear you're having so much trouble getting you car done Tammy. Hopefully when you do get it back it'll be done right. I'm suprized the dealership didn't give you a loaner to use.

That's good to hear. On top of all the frustrations with the shipping date.. I dont want to worry about them buying me junk for my car.

The garage STILL wants to wait on a backorder date instead of going with another company, because "IF" the other company has 7-10 day shipping, it would be here the same time as the original.

Now they are saying a ship date of August 24th, MAYBE! Which still puts the part here by what.. the 26th.. maybe... hopefully.

BUT.. the part on Summit's website says ship date of 09/09... so WHY WAIT????????????????

So frustrating!!!

Damn, sorry to hear about the car & maybe even more so about the frustration with the new parts. There are plenty of reputable vendors on the net these days, I'm not sure why they're sticking their heads in the mud and acting like nobody else carries the parts :(

I know it's just like everything else.. opinions and personal preference.. I still appreciate you guys speaking up about it.

It's more about the frustration right now. I can only tolerate things for a short period of time before I start getting mad, and Im there with this garage. They've always treated me great there and I know they will do a good job when the parts come in.... I just DO NOT understand why they insist on waiting.

Of course, it's not THEIR car that is sitting there, right...
