Yeah - the odds sure seem to be stacked against us for this one...

...and after last week's disaster of a game, I honestly don't know what to expect tonight. As of now, my main goal is not to swear at the television during the game...

Nope - it'll be Mr. Dennis Dixon behind center...in his first NFL start...against the Ravens in Baltimore...PRIMETIME....ugh...this could get nasty...

Ben felt fine earlier in the week, but then after Wednesday's practice he started getting headaches. So his egg is still lightly scrambled...hopefully he'll be back for next week against Oakland.

in a way this is good. a team going on a losing streak is the best way to get rid of bandwagoners and their associated faux fervor.

You guy's have to cut them a little slack. We have a couple big time players out of the lineup on defense that haven't been there for most of our losses. People can say what they want but that makes a huge difference on any team, especially one with as much talent as their's. I still don't care for Ike taylor though, never did.

Even though the offense was very suspect early, getting only 3 points out of 2 red zone possessions in the first quarter, today the defense really let us down. We march it right down the field after the Raiders take the lead, only to let Oakland score again. Then we score AGAIN, only to let the Raiders answer & take the lead. I sold my ticket for this game because my girls had an Xmas Ice Skating show this evening...so I'm sitting at home watching the game before I left for the show, and Dierdorf says the fans loudly BOO'd the defense after they let Oakand take the lead the first time. Honestly I think they deserved it, and I'm as die-hard a fan as they come. I thought, "Good - that will wake up the defense and maybe we'll actually put the Raiders away now." Looks like the opposite happened. The defense just can't get off the field on 3rd down. We let a team with a backup quarterback, 3 average running backs, and no wide receiver in the league's top 50 put up 27 points on us. That is no good. How does Ike Taylor allow a guy to get deep on him late in the game? How does Burnett drop that INT that hits him right between the numbers? Why does Mundy close his eyes and lower his helmet and knock out Willie Gay? Why does Mundy AGAIN lower his head and take a cheap shot at a defenseless receiver after the ball drops incomplete, giving the Raiders a first down inside the 20? These aren't little mistakes. These are game-losing mistakes. Last year we played smart almost every game. This year that is not the case. I don't know what has happened, as we didn't lose much in the way of personnel from last year. I know Aaron Smith and Troy are sorely missed, but jeez - we can't sack a QB to save our butts. Every time we get close he slips away to get a first down. Needless to say I'm frustrated. Losses against the likes of Chicago, Kansas City, and Oakland HERE AT HOME are signs that our heads are not screwed on right this year. I guess there is a chance that we can find a back door into the playoffs, but at this point I'm just hoping that we can find a way to beat the Browns...
