i'm thinking 408 i would like to only do the short block once and even if the heads will be the bottleneck its easier to replace them than a rotating assm. still going for high comp. and a solid roller . any suggestions???

Because he's spent his whole life trying to make do with something smaller than everyone else...

    J/K Troy!

In all seriousness, Troy knows he'd be making a mistake if he planned to replace the rods and pistons and not do a crank while he is in there like he originally intended to do. Why not get as many cubes as you can now right? Sure the heads will be too small but they are a hell of a lot cheaper and easier to replace than a bottom end.

408 c.i.d. is a given as Paul stated. With a little bowl work on those T.W.'s you saw what level of performance is attainable with the example on HC5.0. Granted that combo has been ever evolving and much effort has been applied. Your combo will have several advantages, namely the static compression ratio and the type/size of tire.

Have you continued with the weight reduction? I recall you mentioning you had thoughts of mini-tubbing the coupe. If the budget is tight why not forgo the mini-tub and invest the greenbacks in the stroke. With a true 28" tire out-back and a competant suspension traction should be evident.

i was going to mini tub it myself so the cost of that would just be the materials , i have proceded with weight reduction, to the tune of no dash"to lighten it" and scraping of sounddeadning , removal of the door crash bars and all other avenues will be utilized.

I did some research and found a nasty 351 that generates over 600 N/A FWHP. Have all the specs e.g., intake, carb, cam part #, headers, heads, C.R., etc.

hey Joe, we both know a guy that has a 351 base motor that makes at least 520fwhp NA, and it has unported heads/intake and an a cam that was designed for a different motor...
2015 A6 Mustang GT that so far has gone 9.48@147 but still the fastest prochargerd S550 in the world aside from Tim Essick's!

I'm thinking it displaces 414 c.i., if I am thinking about the right one.
