    Motor Trend's "Best Driver's Car"

Was doing laundry last night and saw this in the October (?) edition of Motor Trend that they had at the laundromat..... Thought it was a decent read, and some of the results surprised me...

    Motor Trend's Best Driver's Car

    10. Camaro SS - its a muscle car, didn't expect it to handle the best, but i was surprised that it got last place... although, when you consider the competition it was against, its really not very surprising....

    6. Corvette ZR1 - i'm quite surprised... it was BY FAR the fastest, most powerful and best handling car of the bunch (statistically), but I didn't expect it to be, as they described it, a hard car to drive fast... the power must be pretty crazy if the professional drivers are saying that with even the slightest mistake, it will bite your head off... I didn't expect this, b/c i think that was one of the development objectives - make a car that is faster and handles better than a Z06, but doesn't feel like a track-only car - which is what the critics usually say about the Z...

    5. Shelby GT500 (page 12) - pretty good review... figured this would be the part you guys are most interested in

    2. and 1. Audi R8 and Porche Caymen S - really no surprises here... awesome cars without a doubt.... wonder how Porche feels about the guy saying that the Caymen handles better than any 911 he's ever drove??

I'm quite surprised that the Nissan GT-R was not included in this test.... They clearly were willing to allow cars that expensive into the test (ZR1 & R8) so i'm not sure why it was left out...

Nissan shot themselves in the foot! Ever since it became public knowledge that Nissan was denying warranty claims on broken transmissions ($23k replacement) the GTR has fallen into the abyss. To think Ford, GM or Chrysler would deny warranty claims on a stock car because you launched it without traction control! Plus the final production car numbers never equaled the press car which was hyped that be an $80k "factory race car" that would run with the $120K Porsche 911 and destroy any American sports car. I would almost dare call the GTR a flop!

    ZR-1 .. FTW! I love that car!

Interesting... I can't watch the vid now, but will later....

I had heard a little bit about the GT-R issues, but only when someone posted something on the LSx forum or something... I really didn't care too much either, so I didn't pay much attention... I personally think its an awesome looking car, and sure wouldn't mind having one - however, i don't think i could deal with all the leg-humping i'd get from the rice crowd... it honestly seemed like the thought the GT-R was the second coming of Jesus Christ....

Guy from work has had 9 porsches and he said his most recent Caymen S was hands down the best one.

THe car is used appropriately as he is an instructor with the NORPCA.

Infact, to put it in persepective, he used to run a full race 944 turbo on track rubber and his caymen S with coilovers and stabi bars on STREET TIRES better'd the 944's times at Mid-Ohio.
