    Hard to reinstall K-member?

Is it hard to reinstall the k-member after dropping it down? Does it have to be perfectly lined up the way it was?

I would make sure it is parallel and squared to within 1/8".

If you made some scribe marks between the k and body before you removed it, things would be easy. :)

scribe ftw. or with all the bolts in but a lil loose, pull it forward for max tracking, then cross measure using the frame alignment holes and adjust as necessary and tighen her down.

add: oh, and an alignment is eminent any time you tear apart suspension and components.

Yep. The four front ones are a bitch. Make sure you tighten them as tight as you can.

And those four are the ones practically inside the spring pockets, right?

Yoy can drill a 1/8" pilot hole on each side prior to removing it, then upon instalation you just slide an 1/8" drill bit in there for alignment.

These bastard 1 3/4" BBK long tubes. Despite having both motor mounts completely undone and the engine/trans lifted so much that it is hitting the tranny tunnel... I cannot get these long tubes in place.

I don't know if the copper fabric header insulation is having an effect, but I'm not ready to take it all off of the headers. The tubes are getting wedged between bellhousing and K-member on the passenger side. They are wedged between the cylinder head and steering shaft(MM) on the driver's side.

Either I pull off the insulation tape and pull off the driver's side head(after assembling the whole motor basically) or I drop the K-member a little bit.

I can't get the headers in from the bottom either. At least not the passenger side.

If I wasn't planning on saving a lot of money for alcohol for these next two semesters... I'd just buy a tubular K/coil over kit...

Loosen your trans mount and slide the motor and trans forward. It will give you an easy inch or more which should be more than enough. I had a fun time doing my 1 3/4 longtubes also. It was not a problem though with the trans free and forward.

I'll try that when I get home. Hopefully it works out. I'm so close to driving the stang I can taste it. Too bad I won't be able to abuse the car for a while due to break in of the motor. :(

you're supposed to be a little hard on it, as to seat the rings quickly.

Got the long tubes in by removing the tranny nuts. Thanks Wick. All that's left to do now is install the fuel injectors/rails, upper intake, stab the dizzy, put on the X, and mount the battery.

    Soo close.
