Best rear tires for my Cobra?

Ok guys, I have had enough of not being able to put the power down and I need to pick your brains. As most of you know I am running a KB and with the new clutch all it wants to do is spin spin spin. I am running 17x10.5 03 cobra rims in the back with 315x17 BFG KDs. The tires worked ok for the ported eaton but they are no match for the twin screw. I drive my car on back roads at high speeds so I need to make sure that I have enough sidewall to keep from getting that rolling feeling. So for those running tires like the ET street radial, how do they feel when taking twisty roads. I ran my ET street aka cheater slicks on the street once and hated them. The rear end of the car was all over the place and made me want to stop driving the car. It was like driving on flat tires even when they had 32psi in them.

I think I need something with more bite than NITTOs and I am not that worried about tire life but I would like to get 1000miles so they last the summer.

You cant go wrong with BFG drag radials. IMO, Nittos are garbage. They dont hook for shit and can get you in trouble real quick. If you want to sell the BFG's you have now, keep me in mind please.

I think your options are very limited Ryan. Your best bet is probably the nitto's unfortunately for the kind of mileage you want to get. ET streets or any drag/street drag radials you won't get any more then 500, to 800, miles out of. Even my nitto's I only got 1,400 miles out of them and i don't have the power that you have.

Hmmmm Ok lets take tire life out of this and I will just get another set of 10.5 for the high milage trips. Ex. Carlise I am more interested in if sticky DRs will make it feel like I am on flat tires. I understand that I will need to give up some to gain some but I just need to get an idea of how much turning action I am giving up for straight line traction. I hope that makes sence.

Maybe you should try the tires i got.... The NT-05s. They are said to be the best of both worlds. I like them so far and they are pretty good in the rain as i found out coming home from Summit.

I didnt even think of those tires Kevin. On a side note I guess I dont want to much sidewall either because that would cause the IRS hop. Oh well back to scratching my head. I was trying to take the trail and error out of this because I blew that $ on other areas like idler pullies.

Speaking from experience you are not going to get one tire that will last long, hook up well, and enable you to drive in the rain. It does not exist. I have had them all. Hell I have 10 wheels and tires in my garage right now!

MT ET Drag radials are okay. I run 28-30 in mine and get no sway at all.

The 10-second club thing was a couple years ago. Gotta get back to the track on stickies and make the 10.50 club.

I thought sticking with the 17 inch rims and having a good street tire like the KDs would have worked with a 17lbs TS setup but what a joke. First the clutch went and now the tires will not hook. Its a top end monster but I dont want to have to wait for the top of third to get the power down. I see a online shop is selling a kit like you have on your car and was thinking. lol

The nittos really don't even compare to MT's or BFG drag radials for straight line hook.

Although they last longer and you can go around a turn without feeling all mushy, just my observation with them all.

Really it all comes down to what you want out of the car. I put about 4000 or less miles on mine a year. I liked that it drove nice with the nittos, and i loved it when it was slammed to the ground low. but it wasnt practical for me any longer. The car still drives nice just not a corner machine anymore. but atleast i will get it to hook. It was freaky grinding on stuff to fit 15s though

I run the 305/30/18 555RII, the road race version of the DR. For more or less an aggressive street tire that hopefully doesn't see rain, its not too bad IMO. They're terrible if they're cold or the street is cold though. I've been in the rain with them (gasp!) and they handled the conditions better than I did lol

All tires are going to have some trade offs and compromises in terms of performance, so its good that you're not asking for a tire to do it ALL.
