I haven't wanted to drag race all year, but this weather and this thread have me itching to go and run my cobra. The bad thing is that I need to replace the front LCA's on it first as the bushings are shot. DAMN IT!

I think everyone took a look at weather and came to track but I don't think air was all that great. Couple people I know were running slower then one would have thought.
I couldn't get out of the 12.4's. Car has a real bad ignition(I think) issues in 4th gear on top half of track. Running 93 in it so I don't think it was detonation. First half car was running fairly well but soon as I grab 4th it acts up. Traction was off 1st pass as it spun bad with a 1.67 leaving at 5800 then starting line started coming around. As second pass it had a 1.62 and my last pass I tried leaving at 6100 and spun slightly with a 1.64. Likes 6000 for launch point.

Best run of the night was a 12.71@106.89 with a best ever 1.78 sixty, so thats a new prp best for me but a little shy of my atco time. Ares is correct about the air since the DA was still a little over 1000ft even though it was cool out. Lastly, 4 runs at prp when it was packed almost blew my mind.

was surprised to get four runs first time in 7 years since i ran at PRP
my first pass was my best
1.92 60ft
12.2 @114
i know there is a lot more in it still. but will get it.
it was acting up a bit though on two runs. but happy it made it to the other end.
two other cars that i have put together had their personal best
2000 pewter FRC vette 11.75@120
2002 camaro ss 11.2@122
.
all in all was very happy
237 cars, with the 4th session starting at 10:45. I'd say the new track manager made a good call for the PRP customers.
I did an oil change last week, and I think that slowed the car up some. I thought the ETs would be better also, but I think the humidity moved in with the dew point, even though you could see your breath by the third session.
A few things Ed and I noticed happened a lot tonight....
1) People pulling up to the tree, thinking it's the starting line.
2) Monster John Force style burnouts on street radials. Street tires just need a quick few seconds spinning to clean the tires off and give them a little heat. Long burnouts will glaze the tires over, and you'll lose traction.
3) Lack of courtesy staging. As in, one driver would go right in and light both the prestage and stage bulbs. before the other driver had the prestage bulb on. Both drivers should be prestaged before moving to stage. In a bracket race, unless you're a deep stager, if you double bulb someone, you may end up sitting there staged for awhile if the other driver isn't pleased.
1 & 3, if you know newbies that are coming up, pass the info along to help them out.
Oh yeah, .020 r/t, 1.66 60', 12.29 at 107 for my '69 Cutlass.
BBElky, you're the early 80s bronze-ish color? I think you ran the pass in front of me third session, against the Wyotech Camaro roadster? You have more in for sure, judgnig by that 114mph.
Lots of nice cars up there tonight, good stuff.
Weather is looking great for this Saturday.
yeah i saw your cutlass. once mine gets out of its own way it will pick up a bit. just happy to see improvements that is for sure.
