Thread: Whats going on at PRP

  1. #21
I can't argue any of your points; they're valid. However, again, give it a chance. Greg is a racer (currently #2 in Modified points), so you can bet he understands from a racer's perspective. If you have a problem, he'll be more than willing to talk with you and try to work things out.

I agree with the $5.00 per time trial thing. That is total BS.

None the less, I still managed to race, and in the end have probably spent more (tow, tolls, fuel, etc) to go where I felt welcome than spending less to race at PRP (drive up and race). It wasnt the economy that drove it for me, it was a direct result of management there. Things like taking $5 / time trial off the racers rain checks on a race day is absolute crap. The rocks with no resolution in sight, and the BS in the staging lanes is just stupid and getting worse.

They have a chance there to earn me back as a customer, we will see what comes.

I just remember the time, last test n tune of 2007... early november when a few cars in street cars broke, then it drizzled and they deemed the track safe and ran us anyway.

I remember almost losing the car on the 2-3 shift at 80mph as the ass slid out.

They then announced the TnT was cancelled and no rain checks would be issued... some people only got 1 "pass"

When we went to the tower to complain we were greeted by Frank who bitched about how much money they lost today because of the cleanup (sounds like a "Drag strip" expense to me) and we were ungrateful and this is why tracks close because of assholes like us. We got our refunds.

If Frank was talking to customers like that it's no wonder so many people are pissed off.

It was more or less the moment I went from a regular to just another car that comes sometimes. After that I started to really see the crap that goes on everyday. That's how easy it is to loose a pretty good customer.

I don't know the Tedesco's personally, but mainly as a spectator I often questioned the track management. I'm a huge car/bike/race fan of all sorts and over the last 2 years my attendence has dropped significantly. I used to try and go atleast once every 2 or 3 weeks to watch and this year I have been there only twice. My father who grew up racing at Keystone and PID hasn't even been there once this year. I know when I compare it to the other local tracks (Beaver Springs, Quaker, Hagerstown, etc...) there really is no comparison to the events/runs/atmosphere that you have at those tracks. For example they advertised that they were going to have a "funny car" show earlier in the year and they only had 3 show up! I'm sorry but in today's world/economy you cant charge $20 bucks to watch 3 funny cars and then only run 2 of them the last two runs. Also members from my car club have tried and pushed to get a true nostalgic event there over the last 3-4 years by either taking the PID reunion to the next level or doing something different and the Tedesco's didn't want to hear it. These types of shows are huge successes at other tracks and not only would you gain more racers but there are certain spectators that want to see the "old stuff". IMO, they lost hundreds of fans and racers by not catering to this crowd just once a year. Like I said, I mainly am a spectator but I love going to the drags. However, I think due to the way the track has been managed has pushed me away from the sport a little and I'd rather spend going to the local dirt track watching the super lates or sprint cars. Being that PRP is my local track and I could never afford to buy it and operate it myself, I wish them all the luck and hopefully things can turn around. PRP could be an awesome facility and venue to host some cool races in the future.

SAC81. the test n tune schedule for the last 2 months remains in place. All Wednesday through September (except for Sept 23), and the last 3 weekends in October.

Travj31, I agree for the most part about the website. I was not a fan of the switch PRP made last year to their site. It was way too busy, slow to load, had to look too many places to find info. BSD's site has its issues too. I have to look hard for some info, and there are pages that are outdated. Their main page, yes, kicks azzz. But God help you if you're on dial up. :D The new site is still under construction. I think it will be back to being user friendly like it was 2 years ago, with updated information, results, etc, and *hopefully* pics.

Also, I'm thinking you already know this, but the PID Reunion/Nostalgia Day is Sept 19. 6 nostalgia funny cars from the Great Lakes Funny Car Association, 2 front engine dragsters, super stocker past and present, and Bill Truby's PID pics on display. I agree with you this event could be bigger and better, and get more in line with BSD's nostalgia days. You are not the only one to bring that up, about getting a truer nostalgia day.

Funny they took away the message boards after what happened at the last TnT of 2007...

I also have a bunch of emails from Carmen Tedesco after that event... some pretty rough stuff in there.

The only way PRP is ever going to be anything other than the mess it has been and continues to be is for the Tedesco's to have sold the track. I have numerous recorded phone conversations with them over track rental costs only for them to LIE about the amount owed once your at the track. Be glad Norwalk is not that far away.

I was in Columbus so I missed PRP this weekend. Any news? I see Saturday the 12th has been changed to a box/no box race. It was scheduled as a regular racing no points day. Also the run-offs are no longer on the schedule. Anybody know when those are going to happen?

Run-offs I would guess during ghost Goblin Gearhead race next month.

The classes I think all ended up decided saterday. Rich Zemrose is Top Champ, Greg Miller is Modified Champ, Kevin Romeo is Street Champ, Shawn Booher is Trophy Champ, Bike class I'm not sure of.

I don't think schedule on new site is setup right yet. Lots of stuff not showing that is still happening.

Don't know about the 12th being changed to Box/No Box that works fine with me.

I'm sure CobraII will chime in, he is all knowing and will have better info then me.

I'm not all knowing, but the schedule is up to date on the new site:

The only run offs this coming Saturday are tiebreakers for the bracket finals team. The only class that has a prize run off this season is Street, thanks to Dean Racing Engines. The top 16 in Street will run off for a small block Chevy built by Dean Pollock. Ed, your 2 rounds gets you the 16th spot. Nothing says you can't sell the engine if you win it. That's my plan. :D I appreciate what Dean does for us in the class.

Gastrader, I would encourage you to contact Greg Miller regarding track rentals.

I didn't realize street was the only one running off for a prize this year.
