I also lost the battle for a tarantula. He's a Ball Python about 4yrs old, just shy of 4 feet. My gf's cousin had him for the kids and then he bit his wife. That pretty much scared the kids to death let alone mom. They asked around with the warning that he's very aggressive and strikes at anything that comes close. He's been nothing but gentle so far as far as I've seen. No handling yet, we're letting him acclimate for a week, then we'll see if he's ok with being picked up. Can't wait for the first feeding.

Looks like not many snake lovers round here. My dad and her mom don't like being on this planet with snakes so that's going to be interesting when they see it.

The original owner (the cousin's uncle) was a snake collector, he had him for a few yrs. He literally dropped dead and everyone was afraid of the thing, so he didn't get much care or food. The kids saw him and you know how they are, we'll take care of it, please please. The mom was the only one willing to try to keep him and when she got nabbed, that was the last straw for them.

They're not for everyone, but we think he's pretty cool.

Snakes are sweet IMO..Not too keen on the idea of it being really aggressive or biting someone, but its only a ball python..

i remember when i was like 11-12, I caught a huge garter snake(4ft or so) in my back yard and took it inside to my grandma to see..little did I know she didnt like snakes, and I got hit with the broom more than once..lol..good ol' days.
