The guy looking for one was Shorty429? I think.... but he wanted to stay under 3,000 I think...

I don't really think that's that great of a price imho... I mean, yes, its got really low miles, but for 6500, you could find a '04-'06 R1 with maybe 5K miles...... but i dunno all that well either - i haven't been looking at the prices of bikes at all in quite some time...

A year and a half ago, i payed $6,500 for my absolutely MINT '04 R1 with 6K miles - only upgrade at the time was a Scorpion exhaust... it just needed a set of tires soon - the '04-'06 bikes are entirely remodeled from the earlier models and much better bikes... so i just don't see it as that great of a deal

most people were wanting $8K for bikes like mine, but i refused to pay it... stayed patient and found mine advertised as being dropped from $8,200 to $7,700 at a bike shop in Columbus, Ohio... they dropped the price a little bit further for me, then a little further a week later when i called back and tried to bargain them down... Finally they came down to $6,800 out the door and said they'd go no further... I said I wanted it for $6,500 cash (pretty much 6,600 OTD)... they said no - so i said I would pay $6,800 for it, but I was going to come and use my Visa card, and after Visa's fees, they would end up with less money than if they had just taken 6,500 cash.... the guy got all pissed off and was like "how soon can you be here?" I told him 4 hours and we made the deal!

**I didn't have time to type my reasoning before work when i replied earlier, so that's why i have 2 posts

well, I have a soft spot in my heart for the 1st gen R1 98-99. Yamy remodeled it a little bit for 00-01 and I'm a sucker for carburetors, too.

    too bad it's RED.

haha - i'm sure you do.... I always really liked how they had the "R1" on the tail of the bike...

I would love to get my hands on one of the '01 Championship Edition bikes... never thought the paint scheme was too incredible, but would be cool to have one of them since they only made like 1000 of them
