    Distributor for 1985 GT 5.0 5 speed

Anyone out there have a distributor for a 1985 GT 5.0 5-speed? I'm putting a 1994 5.0 roller cam motor in my wife's '66 GT and I need a non-efi distributor with a roller cam gear on it. That pretty much limits me to the 1985 models.

I know for sure the distributor from a 5-speed '85 GT will work. I'm not so sure about the '85 GT automatic application, which had the Central Fuel Injection. Anyone know if they're the same?

I had bought a Mallory roller cam distributor gear to fit on my stock '66 distributor, but the retaining pin for the roller cam gear is too big for the hole in the '66 distributor shaft. I'm not sure if it is ok to enlarge the diameter of the hole in the distributor shaft - anyone think this would work?

I'm off to the parts store now to see what a "new" distributor would cost. But if you have one lying around let me know what you'd want for it.

What sucks is that I had one of these a few years ago, but can't find it anywhere...

I really had wanted to keep the stock distributor on the motor so it would look stock, but at this point I just want to get the car running and on the road. The original distributor will be used again when the original motor gets rebuilt someday.

    Thanks!

    Ron

Hey Bittersweet - thanks for the info. I just came from Advance. So tell me - they had 2 listed - which one of these did you get?:

Cardone part # 30-2831 comes with a Steel gear and the cost is $49.99 + $15 core for a total of $64.99

Cardone part # 30-2899 comes with a Cast Iron gear and the cost is $54.99 + $10 core for a total of $64.99.

Which gear - the Steel or the Cast Iron - is for the roller cam motor? It cracks me up that they say "Cast Iron and Steel Gears are not interchangeable and will cause severe damage," but they don't say which gear is the one for a roller cam motor...

Did you install it yet? Any issues with it?

Thanks - I really appreciate the help.
