    Getting it to run right

Can anyone in the south hills give me some assisstance getting this thing to run right? It will idle at 800 rpm or so.. but I've got no idea if the timing is set properly. I'm pretty sure it is. It sounds like a vac leak or a mega cam. Will a B cam make it not idle smoothly?

I got rid of the EGR equipment so now I've got a couple codes regarding that.

The car's pretty damn loud, will a off road X make that much of a diff? and long tubes.. but there's only one minor exhaust leak and I don't think it will make it much quieter.

This is on a stock 5.0 w/ just the B cam.

It just does not sound healthy.

A few updates: Charging system upgrades (3g alt, ground straps, hi torque mini, alt power cable) all work properly, no charging issues.

I took the car out for its maiden voyage. The car has NO balls going up hills. It seems as though it's not firing on all cylinders. I will check for spark in a few hours when I get home. I didn't hear any detonation but I will not rule that out.

There's an odd colored liquid(tan/yellowish) coming from both pipes in a fairly decent volume. I first attributed it to condensation/rust, but it just keeps coming. It does not smell like fuel, but going along with the car having no balls, it very well could be unburnt fuel from a cylinder or two.

Returning from the drive the car starting surging at idle almost to the point of stalling. (this was at the south park to church road intersection at red onion, waiting for the left turn was nerve racking).

I didn't get a chance to run KOER codes last night, but like I said the KOEO codes are all EGR related. 81 82 and 84. These are from removing the thermactor and thermastor solenoids from the pass side fenderwell. I was under the impression they are un necessary. The 84 is telling me there is no EGR flow(closed?), which I think is the tolerable code.

    I get NO CEL, btw.

Here's a couple for tid bits of info regarding the car's current condition.

The speed control and HVAC vacuum lines are capped at the vacuum tree. There is no possibility of a vacuum leak from those two pieces of equipment.

The EGR vacuum source was plugged on the manifold, no leaks. I will double check all the plugs, though.

The holes on the back of the heads were pluggd prior to installation. The EGR holes on the front of the heads(universal heads) did not have the original threaded plugs in them. I order some trickflow plugs, heavily coated them in ARP thread sealer, and installed them into the head holes. I then bolted the accessories onto them. They are about one inch long and shouldn't leak at all.

I pinched the EGR tube on the X-pipe shut and welded it to make sure it's sealed shut.

I already have an EGR eliminator from RJM injection tech. That's not the problem. I have issues with the cylinders firing properly. I'll check if the problem is spark later on. It is not compression. It may be fuel related. IDK yet.

The EGR simulator is why the 84 comes up saying the EGR is closed. It prevents the CEL code(whichever that is) but causes the silent 84 code to be present. Like said, I have NO CEL present. Just a blinking air bag light until I remove the air bag control module under the dash.

A tan-ish yellow color is usually the color that results from oil mixing with coolant... is it sorta milky...? if so, that would require you to have a blown head gasket and oil both getting into the combustion chamber... which isn't going to help performance...

The 94-95's almost always surge when you swap the cam. Foxes are less likely to experience this, however I have seen some that do. Go back over everything and look for a vacuum leak. If there isn't one you may want to clean the IAC and worst case bump the idle and then reset the TPS. The EEC may very well figure it out on its own. I just experienced this with my cobra. A nut had backed off on my EGR delete plate and unmetered air was making its way into the engine. Once I caught it and fixed it the idle was CRAP! It sounded mean as hell but it surged, lumped, and bumped. A few days of driving and its fine now.

do you have a breather on the pass side valve cover or do you have the regular oil cap? If you have a breather in it it will be like a big vaccum leak, because the pcv in pulling vaccum at the rear of the intake..
