VERY difficult to understand. Try to type things using the cool new things we have come up with in the last few thousand years... you know, like capital letters at the start of sentances......Periods at the end.......commas showing a break. All of this will make you look like a person that has graduated beyond the 4th grade. Actually, I think I just insulted 4th graders by comparing your writing skills to thiers!

Our Cobra was yours, and it is interesting that you had never wondered if it had been a real natural born Cobra or not. We ran the VIN (copied above) and found that it was in fact a natural born SVT Cobra.

We have also fixed many of the problems. No rattles any more. Half the car was loose or missing bolts. Shit was falling apart underneath.

The rear axle needed a QUART of fluid.

Rear axle ladder bar bolts were ready to fall out. The U-Bolts were hand tight.

Exhaust was a wreck. I spent over an hour just on bending/adjusting the exhaust. I'm lucky to have a exhaust bender available at my pals place.

Wire was cut on rear brake lights, fixed. Fuse blown due to a short caused by cut wire. Fixed.

Hydraulic lines on rack were twisted and bent. Fixed.

Brake lines going to front wheels were swinging in the breeze. Brackets made, fixed.

Clutch cable was bent very hard/sharp and binding. Re-Routed.

Front pads were bad, you knew that. You provided new pads for us. Thank you. Installed.

Front brake street legal kit being ordered from Aerospace Componants to replace the drag race brake rotor.

Honestly, we have only a couple more issues to overcome and the car will be tight and complete. It was not a complete mess, it just had a bunch of little shit that took no more than 6 hours on a lift to fix. All that is left is a rythmic thump in the drivetrain and getting the OEM steering wheel and air-bad back on it. After that she won't appear to be some riceburner reject and she should be ready for PRP next spring. Hell, I may even hook up the Snow Performance Water injection, but I will not spray it with meth, only water.

Regan, I am sorry to insult you, but every post of yours is embarrassing. You should present yourself as you are, an intelligent young man with a higher education. Form reading your posts, these folks most likely think that you dropped out of school in the 3rd grade so you can push drugs in the hood. You are very much the opposite. Represent yourself respectfully.

I am glad you have everything sorted out because I have seen the car twice in person and it was a complete basket case at those times. I hope Regan was atleast straight up about it and told you about the issue that he had. It seems that the guy that sold it to him screwed him big time but thats no reason for him to pull the same thing.

It nice to see that the car made it into the hands of some one that is willing to fix it.

+1 Great job on keeping your head up and doing it the right way!

I personally cringe when I see someone doing something half@ss just to say it's done. You really look like you know what you're doing and you're doing it right!

Regan was almost as honest as he could be. He was reasonably forthright, not mentioning the accident with the car hauler ripping up the exhaust or the fact that the car came in from texas not running. This I heard from members here. He had also said something about buying the car in like Jan or Feb, but his posts on here show delivery to be somewhere around April 26th I believe. That could be a typical male date/time issue..... like fergetting your wifes B-Day or forgetting how many years you've been married.

All in all, Regan said it was for sale and offered me a look. I went over the car and most likely told him more about his car (that was wronge) than he knew.

I have built a couple pretty serious performance vehicles, usually ones that drag real heavy weight on a 300' dirt track.... but stripping a frame and hand building my own 4-link/air bag system is nothing that scares me. Nor does tearing into a $30K 1,000 HP BBF. So doing a bit of clean up work on this Cobra is nothing but fun.... I spend more time in the garages than I do in the family room by a long shot!

Lets see if this will work, This is my Dodge Cummins against a big block race car that I know the owner of. He calls it "barely street legal", as in he has a pal that will sticker it. It is a trailered drag race car.

This race is at the Flashlight drags in Zelionople last year. Now, I had 2 huge advantages.
    1. The airport does not have a sticky launch area like a drag strip, so his cheater slicks did little to help him.
    2. I launched in 4x4 putting 3 tires into a burnout for about 10-15 feet and then its like a slingshot!

Like I mentioned before, I am glad this car found a good home. I am not saying that Regan was a bad guy, I just think he bit off more than he could chew. When I saw the car I just wanted to cry. I could see what was wrong with it and knew it either needed some TLC or it was going to end up rusting away.

Good luck with the car and let the moding begin!!

I'm sure that Regan is a very great young man, and I am also positive that he really wanted to love this car. That said, I doubt it is the car for him with his current ability. Should we wipe out an engine, I would give it 6 hours and the engine would be on a stand. Give it a couple weeks and it would back together and running. Yanking an engine is something that seems to happen with too much frequency around here :]

Between myself and my circle of pals we can machine, weld, repair, replace, make, brake, fix or _uck just about anything or anyone!

    Who's next!

That looks like it's a Satin Silver 03, which is more uncommon than the regular silver.

Glad to see it's getting the TLC it needs.

If it looks good, you'll see it. If it sounds good, you'll hear it. If it's marketed right, you'll buy it. But if it's real, you'll feel it. IG: @donuttrump

Not sure what a satin silver is compared to a silver-silver... but I took a couple close ups last night that may help someone that knows what the difference really is in the colors....

    Passangers fender

    Drivers fender

    Rear

This was done free-handing the camera and with a flash. If I get the paint code from the door, where can I convert that to the english language term related to the color of paint?

Can't remember where to find the paint codes online but they're out there.

Satin doesn't have any flake in it so it looks more dull from a distance... There is def. flake in those pics.

Did you ever figure out what those extra switches/buttons were for?

Hmm, extra switches and buttons? Not sure.

Right of the steering collumn is a red button for the horn, the Grant steering wheel renders the car hor/airbag-less.

There is a green LED to the right of the steering wheel up in plain sight, this would be wired into the Snow Performace pump so that it would light while the pump has voltage applied.

Behind the Grant wheel there are the OEM cruise control switches redneck-rigged to the steering collumn, I will be getting a OEM wheel and airbag assembly to replace the Grant.

What other switches do you recall? Let me know and I'll try and figiure them out, but I have not seen them.

That must be them. I just remember Regan asking me about them when I dropped off some parts. I had no idea what he was talking about but that all makes sense.

Got that found out. It was the left front tire has a broken belt in the tread. Put it back on the lift and ran the drivetrain.... no thump. Felt the driveshaft for excessive play in the joints, nope. The pinion/ring lash is a bit excessive, but I'll get at that later. Ended up, if you spin the front left tire there is nearly a 3/16" lump straight across the tread. This is the thump you feel rythmically as you drive the car.

New tires coming soon to a Cobra near me!

I think the rear end will be removed for a 9" unless ya all think a 8.8" can take the abuse. I suspect that the 8.8" has upgraded axles and such, but I have not yet taken it apart to see. I do know it is missing a Detroit, it is a limited slip. I will need to at least Detroit the 8.8 before track time next year.

What is the general opinion of the 8.8 vs a 9"? I would suspect the 8.8 is not as desireable, but that most 8.8's are left in place for ease of installation and fitment.

I dunno what type of 8.8" you have in there, but it will hold more than enough power for your car.... 8.8" = GM 12bolt... I had a Moser 12-bolt in my car with 33 spline axels, and i think it was rated for something like 1200hp... I had a Detroit True-Trac diff in the car... I was running the hp in my sig, and the new owner now has it in the Mid 900's rwhp/rwtq, and the rear is still holding up wonderfully last time i heard.....

a 9" is obviously stronger, but I think an 8.8 would be fine and dandy for you.. probably other places you could put that money....

    imho
